silbluever Posted March 26, 2009 Posted March 26, 2009 Well it looks like I have a cold closet, the i7 runs warm but hauls but while doing it, and this water setup that was reviewed dose not seem to handle the i7 temps that well compared to a good air cooled HSF. Zertz Posted March 27, 2009 Posted March 27, 2009 Update: An issue has been found out with the PWM controller AMA is using for both of the radiator's fans causing them to ramp up speed at a much higher temperature then intended. This limited the kit's performance so the retail kit will use a potentiometer instead to control the fan's speed. Results in the review have been updated to reflect this design change. They should be considered as near maximum fan speed results which is clearly noisier then the minimum speed at which the original testing was done. Retail availability is set for Q1 2009 so it should be here soon
Water_Hazard Posted March 27, 2009 Posted March 27, 2009 I understand the PII-720 runs cooler, but sub-ambient temperatures with water is impossible Water_hazard: your results are in line with what we've been seeing on i7 I wouldnt say impossible.. Because mine runs at 16c on air. If you have cool water running against a cold copper plate on a cpu running that isnt even putting out the slightest bit of heat(which the phenom II's seem to be doing) then it is very possible... But I wouldnt think so either if I had not seen my 720 running at 16c in a room that was easily 22c-23c
