Akasa Vortexx Neo - Arrived, Here Are The Reults (on 4870 Crossfire)

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

Ok i was talking about this cooler some time again but now it has finally arrived. Now before i get into this i was expecting the cooler to be worse than the TR-HR-GT-03 which i have tested here: http://www.atomicmpc.com.au/forums.asp?s=2...;t=12468&h=

*Quick note - It is light as a feather, so light they dont even need a back brace for the card and I might mention this is rated at 1 sone, and one sone is 40db, but believe you me, i cant hear it at all. it is very quiet.*

I was expecting greater gains over the stock cooler. which results are below,

Results:

Room Tempature = 26c

Non Crossfire single card

Idle: 41c after 30 minutes at windows desktop

Load test 01: 50c after 1 hour of folding@home

*30 minutes at windows desktop*

Load test 02: 55-6c after 1 hour Ati Tool

Crossfire Results

Idle:

VGA01: 50c

VGA02: 48c

Load:

VGA01: 65c (re-applied TIM)

VGA02: 47

Under Fan (VRM): http://i24.photobucket.com/albums/c11/smak...57/Image019.jpg

A side note, the fan actually has holes under it so it will blow air down onto the ramsinks that cover the VRM's *Smart* =D

Also here is my current system layout if your interested to kind of give you all a better picture of how my temps are the way they are: http://i24.photobucket.com/albums/c11/smakme7757/Air.jpg

ummm iam planning on get one off them for a hd 4850 but i heard that there would be some problems with fitting it due to the the ramsinks??? can the orignal ones stay on there

Your card design is not to far off the 4870, all you need to do is buy yourself some of these http://www.vebox.com/acatalog/AK-VMC01-BK.html and your good to go! if you have a look at my picture 'Under fan' you can see ive added ramsinks there!

It will fit no problems but the have to buy ramsinks yourself.
