  1. Hey folks, Thanks for the warm welcoming. I'm hoping eventually to get similar results with my processor! Am I likely to have a problem (if i do manage to unlock my extra cores) cooling wise, will the stock fan be enough? Obviously I do plan on upgrading the case and cooling (probably the next job), but it'd be nice to try and push the chip a bit from the offset.. What kind of cooling do you recomend if I am to try and go for a stable 4ghz system? As for my plans for this PC, ideally I want it running at a good enough standard to play Battlefield 3 when it comes out (Q3 is the prediction) so I got loads of time to tinker and save up for better graphics and the like... But untill then, I guess it will be a bit of a glorified media center, with a tiny bit of 3D drawing thrown in when the time comes for uni work... Although I may try and dig out some old games to get my practice in, almost ashamed to admit it here, but been console gaming since just after command and conquer renegade! Has anyone heard anything about the "Advance 8808KP KAPPA PC Tower" or the "Advance NeoXblade 8813B PC Tower Case" either good or bad... Google seems to draw a blank on reviews in any sort of detail. Thanks in advance, Matt
  2. Budget was around £200, for those bits, and I was plannning to salvage what i can out of old computers we have around untill I can afford shiney new things to add so its not going to be pretty untill next pay-day, but maybe then i'll stick up some photos of where I am at. Im thinking a new case will be the next thing to go for, although its a bit of a superficial thing I don't think i will be able to fit a decent cooling system in my current one, so probably won't attempt over-clocking right away (I will do a bit more research into it, but stil, expect loads of questions when I do start as I am a complete novice...) Matt
  3. As requested, my own little thread It is my first build and my budget was a little tight.. I spent hours looking around to try and find some internals that were not too expensive, but pretty functional. Eventually refereing to some of your reviews to try and help me make the choice, so in a way this post is a thank-you to y'all who put in the hard work and effort to review all the gear! Anyway, onto the Specs of my new system (In the post as we speak) Motherboard: Asus M4A89GTD PRO/USB3 CPU: AMD Phenom II X2 555 3.2GHz Black Edition (Not the most exciting CPU but like I said budget was an issue, and I read that I could get lucky and turn it into an X4 with a bit of sneaky tweaking) RAM: Kingston HyperX 4GB (2 x 2G DDR3 1333MHz / PC3-10600 Non-ECC CL7 DIMM XMP KHX1333C7D3K2 My plans are to upgrade bits as and when I can afford it... Any feed-back or advice on what to get next to add to my set-up is appriciated. Thanks once again, Matt
  4. I don't want to steal any of Wheelman73's thunder, but i figured it wasn't worth me starting a whole new thread for just little old me.. But anyway I'm in much the same boat; it is my first build and my budget was a little tight..
