  1. My 7 years old desktop has some strange problems. 1. When I plug the power cable to the PC, I hear the whistling sound. 2. I see the Ethernet green light ON even though I have not turned on the computer. 3. Sometimes I have to push the power button twice to boot it to the windows. The first push, it shows black screen, only the fan run. Can someone tell me what is going on with the computer?
  2. OK. After few hour. I success flash the Bios back to A06 with a floppy disk (spent an hour to find the floppy). The problem now is the CPU still run at half speed. The Bus Speed suppose to be 533 MHz. It is 400MHz now. Does take the CPU out, the Bus Speed change back to 533 MHz?
  3. Thanks for the reply. I don't plan to buy another chip for this computer. I'm planning to trash it. It's too old anyway. Do you know a hard way to reset the Bios version to factory settings? I just want to clear the A09. Will reformat hard drive help clear the A09?
  4. Dell GX260. Windows XP. I just flashed the Bios to A09. Now my computer run at half speed. I want to downgrade back to A06. The problem is, when I click A06 I got the message "The current system BIOS is the same (or newer) than the version you are trying to flash". I also took out the CMOS battery. I have searched for 1 hours. No solution . I don't care what happen. I just want to get rid of A09. Please help?
  5. The sticker on the ram wrote: VS512MB400C3. The manufacturer website did not say what type of chip .
  6. Do you know what type of ram chips I have? TCCD, BH5,BH6,VX or UTT? And how to find out? Many links from the guide was dead. I just found something new in my BIOS: Is it a LDT/FSB Frequency Ratio (LDT Multi) or cpu multiplier?
  7. Question for ram. Can you you tell me what is the diff between Memory and SPD In the CPU-Z shows: Memory Timings: 2.5-2-2-5-7 SPD Timings: 2.5-3-3-8 If I overclock the ram which ones should I follow? Memory or SPD? I'm working on finding the max of my ram. The sticker on the ram wrote: VS512MB400C3 here. The problem is CPU-Z shows SPD Timings: 2.5-3-3-8 which is VS512MB400. There is another problem, I can find anywhere on the web about Memory Timings: 2.5-2-2-5-7? I really don't know what chips are on my sticks of ram .
  8. Thanks for the PSU warning. I will find a replacement. I have a question for CPU Vcore. Link to my CPU specs. It said my CPU Vcore min/max is 1.5/1.55. In the guide says "For 130nm cores (i.e. Clawhammer, newcastles) you can go a little higher to 1.7v-1.75v". My core temp while running Prime95 is 55C. What CPU Vcore do you think is safe?
  9. I cannot enable Clock Spread Spectrum. I took out 1 stick of ram. I ran Prime95 on 2x512mb for 10 hours yesterday. Prime 95 found no error. ( CPU overclock 230MHz, Hammer Fid Control x9, Memclock Auto). I just raise the CPU overclock to 232Mhz, Memclock 100Mhz and lower the Hammer Fid Control to x4. I ran SuperPi found no error. Today. I don't see manufacturer name anywhere on the motherboard. MB Model : nForce3. Power supply: Orion XP400 Intel 12v.
  10. If Hammer Fid is the cpu multiplier. How do I find LDT Multi setting? In the Hammer Fid Control: lowest is x4 Highest is x9 The guide says "LDT/FSB Frequency Ratio (LDT Multi) to 2.5x or 3x." Thanks again.
  11. Hello, can you tell me what is the diff between CPU/FSB Frequency Ratio (CPU Multi) and LDT/FSB Frequency Ratio (HTT Multi)? I can only find Hammer Fid Control in the BIOS. I don't know if it is CPU Multi or HTT Multi? The guide says "CPU/FSB Frequency Ratio (CPU Multi) to default."
  12. Hi, can you tell me how to find an actual list of my system specs? No, I did not jump to 2.07Ghz. I raise the BUS to 220MHz. I ran the Prime95 for a hours. Then I raise to 230. I ran Prime95 for 4 hours. Then my computer hang. I have another question, how come the Prime95 result did not show failed when the computer hang?
  13. Link to my system spec AMD 64 2800+ OS XP 32 bit. Speed: 1.8GHz. I overclocked it to 2.07GHz see the pictures. I ran prime95 large FFT for 4 hours. Then my computer hang? Prime95: The temp while running Prime 95: CPU: 55 HD: 28 System: 30 GPU: 49 As you can see the all the test shows passed. When I touch the mouse and they keyboard. It does not respond. I have to hit the reset button to reboot the computer. I'm newbie. I would like to hear every comments. Thank you
