  1. My G.Skill ram died on me and so now I am trying to find a good replacement for it. Newegg no longer carries it so I get to choose new memory. I was leaning towards this Muskin kit because it has Micron D9s and a brainpower pcb. Has anyone here had any experience with these? How hard can these sticks be pushed (with proper cooling of course)?
  2. I redid the standoffs and its all fixed now. Thanks to everyone for their help!
  3. Athlon 64 3200+ Gigabyte K8NS Pro 1gb (single stick) of Patriot DDR400 500gb Hard drive nVidia 6200 Hauppauge WinTV PVR-250 Sound Blaster Live Linksys Wireless card All this is inside a Thermaltake Tenor. I have results! When I take the mobo and PSU out, the system boots up just fine. I am guessing its my motherboard grounding out on the case. What should I do to fix this?
  4. I did not remove the CPU when I switched cases. How would I check for a short? Just disconnect random components until I find one that is grounded out for some reason?
  5. I know, thats why it was the first thing i checked. I connected a second PSU to the comper, one that I know for a fact works, and I still had the same problem.
  6. I am moving an older Athlon 64 system to a new case and now it refuses to power on. I tested a second power supply with the system to see if it was a bad PSU, but I still have the same problem. When I hit the power button everything lights up and starts but only for a split second. Any ideas on what the problem is?
  7. I would use the 40 for the operating system, the 320 for all your applications and games, and the 120 as a backup drive.
  8. Don't think you are going to find a 2.1 system with optical input. You will have to go to an expensive 5.1 setup.
  9. A little addition here - what about when it comes to HD content? The 2007wfp supports 720p. Should I be looking for a monitor that supports 1080p? Is it even going to be that noticeable with a 20.1" screen?
  10. Another little addition here - I am looking to eventually purchase an HD-DVD or Blu Ray player for my computer. I understand I need a HDCP compliant LCD monitor. Is this something I should be looking in to, or is there something on the horizon that will allow me to play my HD-DVD or Blu Ray movies at their full resolution without it? EDIT: After doing some more research, I found a couple places saying the 2007WFP supports HDCP, yet it isn't mentioned on the Dell website. So is it, or isn't it?
  11. I am currently looking to get a 20.1" widescreen LCD monitor. From what I have read so far, the Dell 2007WFP is a great choice if I can get it with the S-IPS panel instead of the PVA. Currently, this is the monitor I am going to get. I am looking to see if anyone else has any input into what LCD I should get. It has to be around the same pricing as the 2007WFP ($320 shipped). This is going to be the monitor I am using for a couple years, so I just want to make sure I am making the best choice.
  12. Hah, I laugh at those who complain about 100 degree weather. I lived in Twentynine Palms, where summer temps would reach 120 degrees. I have lived in many desert places in my life, so I am kinda acclimated to it. Now I live in southern California and I hate it. I can't wait until I move to Washington this August.
  13. Not that old. The warranty expires next month. I need to get all the data off of the drive though before I RMA it with Seagate. EDIT: Problem solved. I moves the jumper from cable select to master. *doh* I can't believe I overlooked that.
  14. I have a ST3120026A that the other day just went off. I was listening to music at the time and the drive just disappeared from windows. After some more investigating I have found out that the drive spins up, but can't be detected by the BIOS. I am planning on just replacing the board on the hard drive, but I need to find one with the exact same firmware version. I am going to just start emailing retailers to see if anyone has it. Does anyone have any suggestions to help me find a board?
  15. Info on 8800 Ultra $830! Ouch! Hopefully soon we will see the release date/tech specs of the 8900GTX.
