  1. i'm thinking about upgrading some things by this time next year. i know im thinking way ahead but i was wandering how far i could upgrade my cpu with my current motherboard, or, by that time should i just get a new mobo as well because ill probably upgrade my GPU along with it.
  2. i can't burn out/short out anything with 5 plugged together like that can i? the two in the front don't really do much but it makes my case glow. only 2 of the 80mm are 3 pins
  3. i just installed my new psu. on my case is a little nob that allowed me to turn down the fan speed making the pc run quieter. when i plugged this psu up, that nob doesn't seem to work, i know on my old psu, if i accidently plugged the fans in the wrong connector they fan speed nob didn't work either. is that what i did here too? does anyone know the correct connectors to plug my fans in. i have 5 case fans. UPDATE: Stupid me, that's exactly what i did. i had all 5 fans plugged directly into the power supply. that speed control nob on my case is attached to a cord which branches off into 2 connectors. i hookd all 5 fans together and then hooked them to the connector on the nob, and then the other nob's connector to the psu. now my pc boots quieter and i can turn the fans down to half the speed. is it bad to have 5 fans connected together? how do you have your case fans configured?
  4. i went with the OCZ GameXstream 600w. under my dvd drive i have a big space i can bundle the unused cords together and stash there. now i just hope that it really is my psu and not my mobo. if a disticnt rubber smell is comming from the psu it has to be that i would imagine. i even got other people's opinions at my house and they all told me it was definatley it. if im lucky enough to get it to boot, it does just fine. i just hate that im having to worry with this and final exams at the same time. the antec i have in there that failed lasted exactly one year give or take a day, because i built it last year at exam time. next year about this time im probably gonna upgrade my mobo and cpu and im hoping my gpu, but thats only if i have enough.
  5. my antec hadn't given me any trouble until recently. if it was my mobo i would think that the fans would still come on or something. when i plug in the power cord, two yellow lights light up on the mobo.
  6. im thinking about getting the OCZ GameXstream. according to my specs, it should be compatible right?
  7. i build my rig last year this time, so i say exactly one year old.
  8. im gonna stay away from rosewill. if i get a 600w would that be overkill? im thinking of upgrading my gpu and cpu and possible mobo in a year.
  9. lately when i try to turn on my pc, it won't come on. sometimes nothing happens, other times the green light beside the power button comes on only, and other times it will come on normally. if the green light comes on, i can hold the power button for 30 seconds and then try again and it will normally come on, but with a faint rubber smell. this smell only happens when i hold the button first. i put my nose at the back of the psu and that is what is making the smell, so im pretty sure my psu is going bad. so im looking for a new one, but know almost nothing when looking at psu's. what would be a good one for under $100. this pc is used for gaming, work, and 3d modelling and animation. this is the one im looking at: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?...N82E16817182017
