Case closed......these Ultra-D boards suck the big one. I'm moving on. DFI lost a customer. If they produce a product that basically equates to spinning a freaking roulette wheel in Vegas then no thanks. No mas, no mas. -

Well.....I'm back. Bad news. I'm getting the same results when I popped in a A64 3400+. No post after corrections made in BIOS like before. screen. So I tried both cpu's on ANOTHER Ultra-D mobo I borrowed from a friend....same freakin results. I then popped both the Sempron and the A64 3400+ into a Asus A8N5X along with the GSkill sticks and both cpu's posted perfectly and was able to adjust settings in BIOS and save....reposted and back in I was able to go. So do I have not one but TWO bad Ultra-D's???? Come on...you gotta be shitting me here Pyle! Out of ideas here. -

Tried what you said.....nada It's weird since I had this rig running smooth as glass with an Opty 170 for over a year. I have to think it may be this g-damn Sempron. I just bought a s939 A64 3400 Newcastle off fleabay. So I can test it with that one to see what the hell's going on. Thanks for the help! -

I tired as you listed above to no avail Using latest BIOS from the DFI site. 4/2006 DFI website says the Sempron is supported right? I mean the cpu boots ....everything looks as it should...it's just that it wont hold the CMOS or something? -

This morning I re-installed the cpu + heatsink. Then cleared CMOS. Powered it back up and I still get the same results. On initial first boot I get the post beep , boot screen shows the cpu correctly...memory etc........then into the BIOS I went. I set it to "optimized" and upon reboot.......blammo...back to 4-LED's and all fans running at max speed......and a blank screen.:mad::mad: As far as the greasy stuff....I wonder if its not a capacitor? Rig was never in a smoked filled room or house. . -
I'm re-building my spare DFI Ultra-D rig for my mom to use Installed a Sempron 3000+1 Gb G-skill When I do a new build I like to do a bare bones boot. ( CPU, video card and thats it) All mobo power connectors are in. Well I cleared the CMOS, and was able to boot up, got into the BIOS and made the usual changes. Then on re-boot.....nothing. Only cpu and case fans spinning, no post beep, and the 4 LED lights all lit up. Cleared CMOS again...pulled out battery..wait 30 minutes. Same result. Ran to Best Buy.....Installed brand new Antec 500W ps..... Same results. Is this mobo dead? I did notice that when I was handling the mobo it seemed to have a greasy film on the underside. What the hell would that be? Any ideas?

I get the same little quirk as well. I hear the alarm go off.....then I see the temp...90 deg C???? No way. And then in an instant.....it pops back to 38 deg C.

Not much of an over clocker here.......but I was looking at some of the sandbox results here and decided to give my Opty 170 a shot. Went to Genie Bios.....adjusted memory and voltage settings as shown and wow....2.7ghz. Just playing around with my first real overclocking and want to be sure the temps are OK. PWMIC temp too high? I have the case side panel open for now. Using a Ninja HS and 120mm fan
