  1. Mine is 50-55 as well. Is this fine? I can't get it any cooler than that without replacing the stock heatsync and fan. It should have plenty of air flow. I have 4 case fans in the front blowing across the HDD's, one blowing in on the side, one blowing in on the back, one blowing out the top, the PSU Exhaust fan, the GFX cards fan, the CPU fan, and the small chipset fan. All my other temps are fine but the poor hidden chipset fan/heatsync seems to not be able to do it's job or the temps are supposed to be that high. Cold booting my system after it has been off for some time shows me that it still shoots right back up to 50+ without any stress on it. It shows high in every app I have tested with. Right now I have smartguardian installed and i can't even enable the warning beeps because it's always saying the chipset is too hot.
  2. DFI just needs to admit that the MB does not provide enough power for many PCI-E cards that do not have an external power connector. BTW, My system is already down. I am pretty sure the videocard has something burnt out on it. The 2nd DVI port has a lovely red fuzziness that is always showing. It just happened out of now where. No overheating or anything Also is SLI worth it? I am so sick of being without a computer that I was thinking of buying a 2nd identical card while waiting for my replacement to show up. Then running SLI once both cards show up. Where do I find this SLI Bridge the MB manual talks about? I have never had so much trouble with a computer in my life and i have been through MANY homebuilt pc's
  3. About to head home so input on the above would be greatly appreciated! I want to make sure it's done right.
  4. I actually have all 3 set up in RAID-0. Is that not good? Let me know before I load this bad boy with more than just windows and stress testing tools I could probably add a 4th identical drive if it works better with even numbers. Would just have to do some file re-arranging to pull it out of another machine. As for the cooling issue, I am picking up some cheap case fan's after work today. I plan on placing 4 in the front blowing across the drives. It's too bad the graphics card blows directly back on the HDD's and MB chipset Gonna end up with fans blowing toward each other -->^ It needs exhaust pipes blowing out and up! PC is in a server room so noise isn't going to be an issue. I still think it's strange that you can have RAID setup yet if you try to load windows without the drivers it is able to see 3 drives. I would think it would only see 1 and only fail after it formats and goes to boot into "windows" for the 1st time. Too bad nVidia doesn't have some way of monitoring this. I am pretty sure it's a driver thing because if i boot from a WinPE disc and don't install the raid drivers i can pull the SMART status. Of course the drives are useless however because they show up as 3 separate drives rather than 1 raid drive. But that was expected
  5. Yup I tried MBM5 as well and it didn't work. Any software that just looks at the drive as a single RAID drive is not going to be able to read the SMART status I assume. I am sure there has to be some way to do this though.
  6. I can't seem to find a way to monitor the temperatures of my SATA drives. I know they can provide there temp so I am wondering if it's an issue where having them set up in RAID disables the ability. Only reason I am asking is because after I got up and running and had stress tested and everything was working great, out of no where everything just went downhill and eventually i couldn't even format. I knew the MB/CPU/GPU where all cool enough but when i put my hand on the case where the HDD's are i knew it was too hot. I had fan's blowing across the HDD's but they where hooked up to the PSU's fan connectors and since the rest of the PC wasn't too hot i guess it wasn't running the fan's fast enough. I have since hooked the fans up so the run full speed full time but would still like to know if there is any way to monitor the temperature of the HDD's while in RAID. After the drives cooled I was able to start from scratch and do a full format and start over so I am sure it was the drives overheating that caused my problem. (Good thing I haden't loaded too much on the PC yet ) Is it possible when running the 3 drives in RAID-0 to monitor there temperatures?
  7. Whoooo Hoooooo!! Someone add the Powercolor Radeon x800XL PCI-E 16x Dual DVI card to the list of cards that are not compatable if there is such a list! Boots fine with the eVGA Nvidia 7800GT
  8. Hit "Tab" and it will go to the post screen. Or in your bios disable the full screen image.
  9. Good enough for me. I could really use the lower price EDIT: Hmmmm That rebate pfd actualy does not list this card. Guess I will have to live chat newegg and see what they say. EDIT2: Actually it does, it just has the wrong description says 128MB not 256MB Thanks
  10. I looked at the bios update but it looked like the only changes where CPU support. I really wish we could have solved this one but I have run out of time. I just need to get it up and running so i can get my life back on track and not be sidetracked for hours messing with this. I just want to make sure no one has any objections to the BIOSTAR 7800GTX before I order it in a few hours. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?...82E16814141014R $400 is basically the max I can spend so this was the only one I could find to meet that as well as being Dual DVI.
  11. Thanks for the reply. I do get the beep beep beep beep if i pull the ram and videocard as expected. The MB appears to be working fine as i installed windows and am currently running Prime95 with all 4 DIMMs in but only with the S3 video card. I believe the issue is the motherboard is not giving the PCI-E slot enough power and since this videocard doesn't have an external power in it hangs. I have decided to give up go without food for a while and get a Nvidia Geforce 7800 tomorrow. If i have to spend the money I might as well get the best i can since i won't be upgrading for a LONG time. Only question i have about that is what is the difference between the GT and GTX cards? Is it just the 20-24 pixelpipes? Also what brands would you recommend. Here is the Newegg search for Dual DVI GTX models. http://www.newegg.com/Product/ProductList....rice=&maxPrice= What about this one REFURBISHED: BIOSTAR VN78GTX-D4E Geforce 7800GTX 256MB GDDR3 PCI Express x16 Video Card - OEM http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?...82E16814141014R
  12. Honest opinions here. If I have to buy another friggen videocard just to get this damn motherboard to work, I at least need your opinions as to what i should replace it with. Money does matter but at this point I just want it to work. I really don't want to buy another videocard nor do I feel i should have to. VENT TIME......[:eek2:EDITED FOR CONTENT:eek2:] I will try to hold off for a few more hours.
  13. Ok then i ask the question. Has anyone gotten a "Powercolor" Radeon X800XL 256mb PCI-E x16 Dual DVI ( http://www.newegg.com/product/product.asp?...N82E16814131423 ) card to work with there "DFI Lanparty UT nF4 Ultra-D" I have seen plenty of sigs that show "yes" but they don't always put the mfg in them. I have searched and not found any sites saying there have been any major problems with the "Powercolor" brand. With all my gear ordered online I can't just go back and say give me another one because this one might be bad. And finding the same model card locally up's my cost $40-$50 as well. The Dual DVI is not very common apparently. The video card works. Don't mean to sound rude but I am VERY frustrated right now.
  14. It all depends how you "interpret" the LED meanings. I would say it's a Memory issue, not video. Others posts would say video, but your getting video output right? But then again without clarification we may never know.
  15. Correct. I found a old PCI S3 graphics card and am able to get the board to post with it. (No more beeps ) Poss 1: Could be As for having 2 bad MB's. I sure hope not. Newegg will hate me forever. Poss 2: Pretty much ruled out. I have triple checked the PCI-E ATI x800XL in another PC and it works flawlessly. Stress tests and all. I have no other PCI-E cards to test with however and if I run out and buy a basic $60 card... I might as well return this x800 and just spend the money on something bigger. I did email rgone as well as the default techsupport email. Have a reply saying rgone will look at my post now are you looking? :shake:
