  1. Alright I'm at my wits end, guys, and I need some massive help. I ordered an AMD X2 4200+ and I installed it today. It was replacing a single core 3200+ Venice, on a 939 Socket DFI LanParty Mobo. Signature has most of my info. Oh, running XP SP2. I put in the processor, a new huge heatsink/fan combo, and booted the system. Boot up detects the new X2 with 2 processors, Bios also detects the processor without a problem. Getting into windows, though, it will show the windows status screen (with the status bar) and then just freeze. The monitor will even disconnect from the system (meaning that the screens turns off and the power light flashes on and off) and just hang there. Power light on the case is still on. I restart, enter bios and load optimized settings, or even safe settings, and I still hang at the same place. The WIERD thing is that I load windows in safe mode and it loads PERFECTLY. It even detects the X2 4200 dual core in device manager. Meh, I install the X2 AMD processor driver, hoping that will fix it, and caca. Still freezes. I even did that Microsoft Hotfix and still the same issue. Google can't find anything useful. I really don't want to re-install indows if I don't have to. I'm hoping you big brains here can figure this out. Please help?
