  1. I don't mean to upset you, but I have read everyforum I could find on this board. I have proper bios settings. I think if you read the response I got from dfi, you will see my bios settings are not the issue, but the board itself and its limited compatablility with other products. I do have more time in this than my last three systems put together. I think its strange that you would tell someone to go away, I hope that if you have this board that it works well for you and that your happy with it. Have a great day, and thanks for your time.
  2. My boot up issue only happens if I have my external maxtor turned on. I emailed dfi tech and here is there answer. To sum it up I am out of luck with this board, no bios update will fix anything. He did offer a rma, but said basically I should blame maxtor, plextor, kworld, and maddog-sure, they all work fine in my other system. Any one want to buy a dfi board? emails are from last to first Matthew: 4. Matthew sir, I know of no bios update that will cure all the incompatibilities you mention. Thank you. 3. Yes I know it is nf3, I said nf4 becuase I know of some people having problems with the nf boards in general. I do not have both video/tv devices hooked up at the same time. I prefer the Kworld internal card for space saving, but it does not work in this board. There were not irq problems, as it was a clean install with that card, I only installed the other when I realized the kworld would not work. So, your saying there is no bios fix that would help my situation? Thanks for your help Matthew 2. >From: "Robert DFI" >To: "Matthew Burklund" >, >Subject: RE: >Date: Fri, 30 Sep 2005 06:17:34 -0700 > >NF3250gb I hope you have boards correct since last line or so of email you >mention NF4 chipset but this board is NF3. >OCZ Plat rev 2 2x512 in slots 1&3 Could work better in 1 and 2 by trial and >error. >Mad dog 550watt ps Weak and troublesome for many users back when the board >was just released in fall of 2004 or over a year ago. >zalman 7700 cooler >sempron 2800 32bit >windows xp pr sp2 >liteon dvd rom >plextor 716 burner Has caused a goodly nunmber of problems with NF4 chipet >boards and would not allow boot at times when certain drives were plugged >in. 3. nothing yet. I really believe it is a problem with either the nf3 chipset, bios or the maxtor drive firmware. It is not my settings or drivers. The problem seems pretty common with the maxtor drives, only on nf systems. I have emails out to dfi and maxtor, I hope they respond. Thanks for your help Matthew
  4. I am reading it now. Another problem. I just installed another burner-plextor 716. I had to put it as the master on the primary ide channel. Now my bios changes setting automatically. I have the wdsata raptor as the boot drive on 3. sometimes the computer will not boot up and I get a ntd loader error. When I go into the bios to check it out, the Bios Ghost changed the boot sequence to 1. Maxtor USB drive & 2. Removable flash.-The WD Raptor will not even be listed. I have to cycle through a few times until I see the raptor in the bios when the bios shows it under ide devices, then when I see it, I have to hit delete to get into the bios again and change the sequence from 1 usb maxtor to 1 wd sata 36. This is weird. It happens about once every three reboots.
  5. ok, I have some others laying around, but I am using the yellow one on the p3 and its working fine over there.
  6. Thanks for the sig andvice, here it is. It is the maxtor diamond max 10 8mb cach 250gig 7200rpm. I took a external tv tuner card that I had on another computer and plugged it into the dfi and that one works fine, but the kworld still crashes the system. I am using sata 3&4 only. I will try enabling the others in the bios and see if that does it. Thanks
  7. Any one have a clue? I took the maxtor out and put it in my old p3 and it works fine. I read another forum here where people indicated that the nf3 250ut has some known glitches. I am really frustrated with the reliability of this board. When I oc I like the performance, but I do not care for the lack of stability even at low oc, and at stock speeds the board is nothing special. Has dfi acknowledged a problem with this board yet? Thanks
  8. My ide driver works fine too, just the sata. So no one has a answer?
  9. Thanks guys. I do have the newest bios. Why would the ide drivers affect the sata drives? I don't know, but I read on another forum about a guy having the same problem and that seemed to help him. Has anyone really acknowledged the problem with the nf3 chipset and Maxtor sata drives? It seems pretty common on the forums. I was hoping someone found or made a fix. Yes, the kworld tv tuner crashes my system, Do you use a kworld card? I am using the XPERT TV- PVR 878 found here: http://www.kworld.com.tw/en/product/PVR-878/PVR-878.html Thanks in advance for all your help. Matthew
  10. I finised my first DFI build, and I have a few concerns. 1. Nforce 3 chipset will not take my tv tuner card, love that card. Its a Kworld tv tuner. I cannot even boot up if it is inserted in a pci slot, thats without any drivers installed. 2. Nforce ide drivers will not work with my maxtor sata drives. Will not even boot up with a new unformatted drive in any of the sata slots, if I am using the dfi drivers. I uninstalled the dfi drivers and then my maxtor worked a few days, now it does not even show up under my computer, and it is causing unstable boots. 3. Had a hard time getting the usb ports to work at usb 2 levels, had to reinstall the usb 2 drivers a few times off of the cd, this is even after doing all the windows updates. 4. Will not reboot if I set the system in standbye. 5. Poor manuel, does not even explain the bios. I am thinking about taking this board back. I have never had this many issues with a new build. Any help would be appreciated.
