  1. I figure if i got one of those "Clawcastles" it would do me untill dual core is in full force in a few months time. Going to phone Overclock tomorrow and try and get a confirmation on that Stepping etc.
  2. I just found this - http://www.overclock.co.uk/customer/produc...productid=18424 And info on the above here - http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/showthread.php?t=55388 Looks .. interesting.
  3. OK ive made some phonecalls and its pretty much like i suspected, its gonna be a few weeks before i could get my hands on a San Diego, and that includes time waiting to see what results other people get before buying one. So im thinking i may go the route of getting myself a cheapo OEM 3000+ or 3200+ and wait it out for a few weeks and see what happens when the dust settles a little bit. As an aside, what would be the best choice memory wise BH-5 or GSkill TCCD ? I can get 2x512 sticks of Twinmos Speed Premium BH-5 for just under £100 were as the Gskill TCCD is pushing £200, i know BH-5 needs more volts but with the Ultra D being able to pump obscene volts into the DIMMs does this make the BH-5 a good lower cost option ?
  4. I cant realy justify spending £100 or so on a A64 3000+ Winnie that i know probably will not do what i want it to do, and end up haveing to replace it in a few weeks, that just doesnt make sense as thats basicly money out of the overall system budget the way the budgeting works for me. Looks like im going to phone around and see if I can get some kind of release date for the lower spec San Diegos, and if its more then a week or so ill have to figure out a plan B(or is it Z, ive lost count now)
  5. The only Venices or San Diegos that are listed for ordering with stock actually available around here are the 3800+ Venice and the 4000+ Diego. And only place I can find thats even listing some of the lower priced San Diego's for preorder is a retailer that id rather not deal with. Knowing how retarded release dates for this kinda stuff are here in the UK and how high the demand is ill probibly end up waiting weeks for the other Venices/SDs to be available. And as i mentioned in my last post this whole thing has gone on far to long as it is and its driveing me nuts.
  6. 4000+ San Diego is around £450 here at the places that have it listed for preorder so thats definaly not an option as the 3800+ is pushing it a little budget wise for me as it is and thats around £250. Any idea when the issues in the Xbit article will be resolved ? if its a week or so i may be able to hold off again (I have been working on the specs for this new system for almost a month now and its makeing me crazy)
  7. Hi all, Am looking at building a system based on the Ultra-D and a 3800+ Venice, however i have a few questions that need answering.. 1) From this - http://www.xbitlabs.com/articles/cpu/displ...4-venice_4.html it would apear at this moment the Ultra-D does not support Venice without the memory reverting to 2T, when will this be fixed, or has it been since that article was published ? 2) Does the Ultra-D still suffer from the packageing problem were by there is a chance i could receive a crushed board ?
