Well, after a lot of internal conflict and double checking new deals on other sites, I am 95% sure I'll go with: http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?sk...d=1218094855056 Any last thoughts before I go buy it tomorrow? Aside from the graphic card, i has all that I can ask for, considering the price. Spectrascope, you are correct, the second one you posted is sweet, but out of my price range.

Hey, I wanted your opinion on two laptops. I know they are similar, but maybe you have some pointers to what makes one better over the other? Or you can suggest something better (seeing what I was looking at and it's price). THANKS!!! http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16834147989 vs. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16834114662

Can I use 32-bit Vista on a 4GB Laptop ??
lukispuki replied to ahmadka's topic in Miscellaneous Hardware
What about the drivers? ex. printer etc. -
What do you think about the 64bit OS? Will I be able to run older programs on it? (I hate to have to go out and buy new photoshop, when I can do everything I need on the old one, I would assume MSF Office XP will work fine on 64bit OS)

How about older programs, from 2000? Will they work fine on 64-bit? (example, older Photoshop) -
What about the Laptop brands? any recomended ones? I heard today from a friend that Asus is good, while Acer not so much. The last link, for the Acer, the CPU is way to slow for my purposes, considering it would be a downgrade from Toshiba Tecra A6 (1.6GHz dual core).

How does the AMD Turion X2 RM-72(2.10GHz) on this laptop compare to Core 2 Duo T6500 (2.10GHz)?

Hi guys, I need help buying a decent laptop (best if under 700, but have some room to stretch my budget). I will be traveling around europe for a few months, so I need something that can handle photoshop and has decent battery. I did some research and here are the specs that I found should work: proc-T6500 (2.1Gh), HD 250+Gig, Memory 3+gig (4 is better). Plus trying to avoid 64bit OS. Also, trying to keep it under 5lb and 10-15inch monitor (prime would be 13). 1. I have a bunch of older programs (msf office xp, older photoshop ans acrobat, plus some older games like RVS) and I would like to keep them during my laptop upgrade. Unfortunately, I noticed that most of decent builds have the Vista 64bit/win7. And something tells me they won't work with my old progs. Does anyone have any experience with that? 2. In order to save some $ and still get some good specs I was considering some lower brands. Any thoughts on Asus, Acer or other? 3. Aside from newegg, anyone knows of decent site for laptop shopping? Any other thoughts?

I was wondering about that G.SKILL PI Black 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 800. Somehow I never really trusted G.Skill. I don't think I had any major reason for my mistrust, it's just the fact that I never really saw it in any major 'good RAM' recommendations. Any thoughts about G.Skill?

All good points, but I have to go with Verran on that one. Thanks Verran! Chances are my set up will not change until next major upgrade, till then I will simply OC to 3.6 without trying hard to go over it (no need to blow up my comp for the extra .4 ... not for my needs). Once I upgrade ... or rather build a new comp, I will not be transferring the RAM to new one, I will most likely just 'donate' my comp my work (where it's stuck anyway right now). Bottom line, for my needs I'd rather save $20 and have what I would end up with anyway 800 @ 4-4-4-12. Thanks to this discussion I think I understand RAM a bit more. Thanks for in depth answers! HAPPY NEW YEAR 2009 EVERYONE!!! Cheers!

Why? Chicago, but originally from Europe.

I guess considering everything the price between the corsair and OCZ is really minimal, while OCZ is 1000 vs the 800 corsair. This might make it sweet if I decide to OC the heck out of the processor ... my cooling is way good trust me, although it's not water cooling, I'm running 4 good fans for the case, plus good proc cooling ... funny my readings show cooler processor than the case, i think i really do need to OC it a bit. I even had to do manual work on the case itself to ensure good airflow... and so I could fit all the fans I wanted.

I know I have enough cooling to OC it quite a bit, and might do it in a future, but for now I will most likely not do it. - stopped gaming. So far I didn't OC it b/c I had an issue with some 'weard' OS loading lag (plus had blue screen of death in a past, that went away ... w/o a reason). I suspected bad memory, but all the mem. tests came back OK ... but very very slow.

Hi guys, I'm currently running Team Xtreem DARK 2GB (2 x 1GB) DDR2 800, (other comp specs in my sig). The comp started to run sluggish at times so on top of better, bigger HD (mostly so I can move all my data to it and reformat the comp) I am thinking of getting some better memory. Considering that there are some killer deals out there right now I think it's a good idea. I will most likely not be overclocking as I stopped playing games. Here is what I'm considering: CORSAIR 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 800 (PC2 6400) - $25 after rebates OCZ Fatal1ty Edition 4GB (2x2GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 800 (PC2 6400) - $35 after smaller rebates Edit: found this too: OCZ Platinum 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 1066 (PC2 8500) - $35 w/ rebates I didn't see anything under $40 that would hit me as a good deal, but if you know of anything please let me know. Personally this upgrade I'd rather save some money. Thx.
