  1. It's a basic 430 Watt PSU. CanTec I think. Came with the case. 200x11, i thought was perfectly stable, but my gf was using the computer and she said she was on internet explorer and it just all of a sudden threw up a blue screen and then restarted.. Is there a program to watch voltage fluctuations? Should I be looking at some MB mods? L12 mod? Modded Bios?
  2. I tried changing the ram timings and windows got horribly laggy.. Clikc on start and 3 secs later it appeared.. dropped it to 9 from 11 and still games crashed. Even at (200 x 11) = 2200 MHZ, general use in Internet Explorer and bam, it reboot! I dunno what it could be.. Time to RMA the board and chip!? lol
  3. Reference post... http://forums.overclockersclub.com/?showtopic=26568 Computer setup in SIG. Anyways, here's the thing now. My current setup is (FSB 200 x 12) = 2405 MHZ @ 1.85 Vcore. Memory set to 6/6 (400 Mhz) latency is optimal @ 2.5 3 3 7 (OCZ PC3200) I ran prime95 for 18 hours, ROCK SOLID! But playing games is so horrible. IE - Need for speed underground, 4 mins and instant crash/reboot. - Thief Deadly Shadows, like 5-10 mins and crash. I set my clock back down to about 2200 MHZ and the games stopped crashing.. Also, anything higher than 200FSB and prime stability is gone! ------------------------------ I'm curious isn't the mobile 2500 chip's default setting like 1.45 Vcore @ 1800MHZ? I can't even get my mobile to boot when i set (200 x 9)= 1800 MHZ @ 1.6 Vcore.. Doesn't that seem wrong??
  4. Ok.. So here's the update.. I think my CPU needs more core voltage.. my current setting is.. (209 x 11.5) = 2413 MHZ @ 1.8 Core Voltage 2.6 VDimm, 6/6 ratio. I ran HOT CPU TESTER 4, benchmarks. no crash.. Let prime95 ran for like 10 secs and SUM(IN-OUT) errors. Idle is about 42 C, Load is like 53-55C. *EDIT -- Another update.. Lowered the FSB to (200 x 12) = 2405 MHZ @ 1.8 Vcore Prime95 ran 6 mins and go round off error. Temp went up to 58 C.. Gonna try going .5V higher. any other ideas? * EDIT - AGAIN! (200 X 12) = 2405 @ 1.85 Vcore Load temp maxed at 62 C Prime95 ran stable for 1 hour and then I stopped it.
  5. Just purchased from Xoxide! Total was $15.04 USD... Good enough for me! Thanks everyone
  6. Tiger Direct doesn't carry just fans, atleast nothing strong enough. I found Excaliber PC, which will ship to me! $10 USD for the fan and $12 USD for shipping lol.. Canada sucks!
  7. I'm trying to get a hold of the TT SmartFAN II for my Tt silent boost heatsink. I'm in toronto, and no parts store seems to have anything besides basic cooling kits. Does anyone know of any online sites like NEWEGG.COM that resides in canada or even ships to canada? Thanks, Khosh
  8. RobAP, Thanks, I'll try that out tonight and post some updates. I'm wondering if maybe there's problems with the MB? And I usually had the memory sitting in AUTO or BY SPD mode.. I'll set it to 1:1(6/6).
  9. So, I set my FSB to (200 X 12) 2400 MHZ and it crashed in 45 mins under load. I set it to 2300 and it crashed after 10 mins. I set it to 2200 and it wouldn't boot. Messed up cuz I was going backwards.. weird i don't understand it. I dropped the FSB to 173 x 14 = 2430 MHZ and it ran fine for about 30 mins on PRIME 95, but the temp was hitting like 69 C and I stopped it. I had set the FSB to 215 just for the hell of it and it wouldn't even boot, it just beeped and screen was blank. I definitely got to get a better fan and keep the temperature down. Does anyone know any online sites like NEWEGG.COM for Canada?? I can't find anything.. I'd like to purchase the TT SMARTFAN II for my TT silent boost. Thanks, Khosh
  10. Wow, that's a serious heatsink. I think I'll just buy another different fan for my thermaltake silent boost. The fan is dang quiet and slow (2300 rpm I think). Any other ideas, please let me know! I'll post some update when I get a chance to play with it tonight. Thanks for all your help!
  11. Kool, I'll try that.. Would is run cooler with a Higher FSB and lower Multiplier? Or it doesn't make a diff, since the MHZ amount to the same? Any ideas on a new fan/heatsink? I'm going to install 2 case fans to get more air flowing because I realized 40C case temps with the side panel off! I've been reading the reviews, but there's just so many fans!! What kind of temperature ranges should I be in? I've been reading about people in low 50's or high 40s under prime load and air cooling!
  12. I've been reading up on the extreme overclocking capabilities of these chips and I'm curious what else I could do to get a more stable setup. My system. AMD 2500 XP Mobile (Stepping 0) Believe it's an I not an A series?.. ABIT NF7-S rev 2.0, Bios 25 from ABIT using FLASHMENU. Premier OCZ 2x512 Dual Channel PC3200 DDR 400 RAM. ABIT SILURO Ti-4200 64MB Video WD 80 GIG 7200 rpm 8mb Cache Drive ThermalTake Silent Boost Air cool. (Sucks, but quiet) Case open right now with a small fan trying to keep the cpu cooler. 430 WATT PSU (not sure what brand right now) Window XP. ------------ The most stable setup I've gotten so far is.. System Clock 128x18 = 2305 Mhz Core V. - 1.93V DDR V. - 2.8V Latency is OPTIMAL, 2.5 - 3 - 3 - 7 (I believe) Prime95 went thru self tests no problem and ran up to 8 hours when I stopped it. IDLE is about 50C, Load up to 65C. ------------ When I had it to 133x18 = 2400 Mhz, after about 45 mins of load it would crash. Prime95 would result in rounding error within 5 mins of selftest. ------------ I can get it to 2550 Mhz to run, but minimal stability, prime95 like 10 secs before rounding error and ofcourse temps are in the high 60's. ------------ I had Samsung Ram before and could not get to even 2400 mhz. Since I switched to OCZ I'm doing much better. From reading up I've come to realize that my Core Voltage is generally much higher than other people have, but I can't get prime95 to run stable without hitting over 1.875V. I'd like to stay with air cooling but I'm not sure what's the best bang for buck cooler? I'm wondering if the power supply is not powerful enough to provide stable voltage? What else could I look at to increase the performance and gain stability? Any help is greatly appreciated! Thanks, Khosh
