dallows Posted January 8, 2007 Posted January 8, 2007 I was wondering if anyone knew of a way to OC my Gateway GM5260. I can't seem to find a way to do it in bios. I think that Gateway locks their bios. Is there a way around this? The specs are as follows. Gateway Gm5260 Intel Duo Core E6300 Processor 1066 mhz 2MB l2 Cache 2048 MB DDR2 Duel Channel Memory nvidia Geforce 7300LE with Turbo Cache 256 MB DDR 320 GB harddrive Thanks
Guest buick454wnos Posted January 8, 2007 Posted January 8, 2007 Most OEMs do lock the bios, i would recommend going ahead and reading the guides in the overclocking section to find out how to go ahead and overclock, all about it, and how to prevent damaging your components . cchalogamer Posted January 9, 2007 Posted January 9, 2007 Yes it's locked and yes for minimal functionality you can likely OC with software in windows, but you'll be severly limited. If you really want to overclck you've got the wrong system, however a new motherboard would allow for OCing, that is assuming it's not a micro ATX case (thankfully some Gateways still have full ATX cases) Of course then the power suply is likely unable to really handle the increased load ifit's nto already maxed out as it is. Eitherway good luck, but most of the time a prebuilt is best sold off or parted out if you want to do any real OCing.
Kash Posted January 9, 2007 Posted January 9, 2007 An overclocking question belongs in the "Overclocking" section of the forums
