Most games can only take advantage of a single CPU, so a dual CPU setup would be pointless

right so the 148 would work fine then... what about the 2xx series? they are 2-way right? is that basically like intel's hyper-threading where its dual die's on one chip?

Hyper Threading just simulates two CPU's, there really is only a single die.

A 2xx setup would beat out a Xeon setup mostly because the memory bandwidth is seperate for each chip. There's no bottleneck unlike intel's Xeon.

oh so it is ACTUALLY two die's, not just simulated to be 2

so the 2xx series would be the same as running dual 1xx series...no performance boost unless im running two servers

so technically the 8xx series would have 8 "individual" processors on the chip? :D bring on the folding

EDIT: this may be a little off subject <_< but since im thinking about it, has anyone figured out a way to unlock the athlon 64 non-fx series? you would prolly have to take off the heat spreader to even see if its possible...

No...

Each CPU has a single die, but only the 2xx and 8xx chips can be run in a dual CPU setup. Only the 8xx series can be run in quad, 8-way, or ever higher numbers.

Sometime in 2005, there will be dual cores on a single chip.
