CheeseMan42 Posted May 29, 2015 Posted May 29, 2015 Avago has announced plans to acquire Broadcom for $37 billion in the "largest mergers of chipmakers ever." Both companies have a large presence in the wireless space, with Broadcom a major supplier for Apple and Samsung smartphones. The new company will keep the Broadcom name and will be based in Singapore, creating the third largest semiconductor company behind Intel and Qualcomm. The acquisition will "help the companies improve their bargaining position with manufacturers," which could in turn create better products and prices for consumers.
