DirectX 12 Shows Significant Improvement in Latest Windows 10 Build

Recommended Posts

DirectX 12 is the upcoming version of the graphics software from Microsoft, with a release planned for PC followed by XBOX One. A new preview build of Windows 10 was recently released and with it a new DirectX 12 build. A user on Reddit has decided to put the build to the test using some older hardware, in this case an NVIDIA GeForce GTX 670 paired with an Intel Core i7 2600K. The user observed that the new version of the API improves the number of draw calls by 330% which should greatly improve performance on PC but may not fare as well on the XBOX as "the Xbone is hideously GPU bound and while multithreaded performance SHOULD be good, the CPU is operating at a painfully slow clock rate."
