bp9801 Posted May 18, 2015 Posted May 18, 2015 It is very nearly time to step back into the boots of Geralt of Rivia, as The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt arrives tomorrow. Well, later tonight, really, but for the most part we'll just say tomorrow. To help get you ready for the Northern Realms and everything The Witcher 3 has to offer, CD Projekt RED has unveiled the game's official launch trailer to go with the launch cinematic. Titled "Go Your Way," we get a nice look at what the game has to offer, with an expansive area to explore, towns to visit, people to interact with, quests to undertake, and monsters to slay. Along with Geralt, we also get to play as Ciri, who arrives with a bang and then stumbles around as she's a bit disoriented. Yennefer and Triss appear in the trailer, too, and really, what Witcher game would be complete without some love interests? There's plenty more to see in the trailer below, so do give it a look (but if you're avoiding spoilers, don't watch it). Along with the trailer, we have an assortment of screenshots of the PC version of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, albeit of the preview version. The game is running at 2560x1440 on Ultra details, but no Hairworks because of the AMD Radeon R9 290X. There's also a Core i7-5820K and 16GB of DDR3 powering things, with filters like chromatic abberation and motion blur disabled. Performance with that hardware and settings resulted in FPS in the 50 range, with some drops into the 40s. Once the final edition of the game with the Day 1 patch was applied, the vegetation saw a boost where both shaders and textures were properly applied, water had tessellated waves, and post-processing effects were in full force, among other graphical improvements. You can hit up the PC Games Hardware source (a German website, so bust out those translators) for a couple of shots comparing the preview and review editions, with a GTX 980 and Hairworks for one, and an R9 290X and no Hairworks for the other. Plus you can check out the video below to see it in action. The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt arrives tomorrow, May 19, for the PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One. An Expansion Pass is available for $24.99 that adds an extra 30 hours of content starting in October.
