iskout Posted February 16, 2011 Posted February 16, 2011 So, I've been having issues getting my E8400 past 3.6GHz for a long time now. I can get it up to 3.6, but it seems to hit a barrier there. I can't get it to remain stable no matter the voltage combo or anything. Well, last night, I decided to give it another go, except this time I disabled the "Execute Disable Bit" function. I know it's related to something like repelling certain virus attacks, but will disabling it have any real harmful effect? Basically, I ran a 24 hour Prime95 test at 4.0GHz, and it's been perfectly stable since I disabled that. I'm just wondering if it's worth it.
