nanoprobe Posted December 11, 2009 Posted December 11, 2009 There was already one post on this chip but I didn't want to hijack it with my question so I thought it would be better to start my own thread. I have the chip OC'd @ 3.2 GHz stable. I had it @ 3.3 and thought it was stable until I happened to have CPU-Z opened and noticed something. About every 5 minutes or so the core voltage would drop to 1.2v and the multiplier would drop to 9x for about 10 seconds. Then it would return to the OC settings. Repeat process. The temps never changed (38-42c @100% load). I had the v core bumped to 1.55v because the OC would fail @ lower settings. I looked on the AMD site and the recommended voltage for this chip is .925-1.45v. Without any OC the chip runs @ 4.50v on this mobo. Could running it @ 1.55v be causing the slowdown problem or is it something else? This chip should have more left but maybe I've reached the limit with the hardware I have. Be sure that the computer is not controlling the voltages either, turn off auto voltage in the BIOS. Cool N Quiet already disabled. Voltage already on manual. OCFreak Posted December 14, 2009 Posted December 14, 2009 Remember that there are no guarantees with overclocking. I have seen some Propus 620's getting 3.1GHz and nothing more. It could be anything.
