djwglpuppy Posted November 4, 2009 Posted November 4, 2009 Hello All, I am now braving the world of Overclocking (hence me writing in this forum). I just built a new machine with a Phenom II x4 965. Multiplier: 18.5 Bus: 200.7 Voltage: 1.475 So I got it to 3.712Ghz I am using the Cooler Master Hyper N620 as my cooler (http://www.coolermaster-usa.com/product.php?category_id=1623&product_id=2881) My Idle is around 40-44C Ran the Prime95 torture test for about 20 minutes and it Leveled around 55-56C Here is my quick question... Am I okay with those temps?.... Am I fine with leaving the Idle temp as is or should I clock back?... I read so many different numbers from different places (they vary 20 degrees)
Waco Posted November 4, 2009 Posted November 4, 2009 That's perfectly fine for 24/7 use.
djwglpuppy Posted November 4, 2009 Posted November 4, 2009 That's perfectly fine for 24/7 use. Thanks Waco... I needed some reassurance... Thought it was okay but this is definitely a fine art from all the research I have been doing.
Waco Posted November 4, 2009 Posted November 4, 2009 (edited) Some people are comfortable with different temperatures. I'd personally be fine with anything under 65 C full load on a Phenom II. My Core 2 Quad can reach up into the upper 70s when running IntelBurnTest (LinPack) and it doesn't bother me in the slightest. The same chips in servers and clusters run at temperatures like that (and even above) 24/7 and still last for years and years on end.
