Problem With Core Temp And Cpu-z

So my Q6600 is displaying as 1600MHz instead of 2400MHz in these two programs, but displays in Vista correctly. I have verified that it is set to this in the BIOS. Anyone have any idea what the problem is? I want to get this sorted out before I start to overclock.

It's likely throttling down when idle. Turn off the power saving options in the BIOS to have it run full speed all the time (C1E and something else I don't recall at this second).

cpu does not display the fine tune.... eg 8.5 cpu multiplier will be put down at 8..... i had that prob with my c2q q9550

Yes, but it is taking it down from 9 to 6. I'll turn off the power saving options and see if that helps.
