3dmark Score Went Down After Overlocking Cpu

First things first. I am totally new to OCing. I bought my machine a while ago but have not really had the time to start playing around until this past week. So what I know is limited at best.

But I did read this tutorial.

My system specs:

Q6600

Gigabyte EP35-DS3R

4 GB (2x2G) G.Skill DDR2 6400 CL5

Sapphire HD 3870 x2

So I have two questions:

1) First, what kind of stock score should I be looking at? If I submit my stock score of 9251 it is definitely at the low end of the spectrum for similar machines. If I open up my ATI CCC and I go to the overdrive section, the drop down box gives me two processors. When I open it while playing a 3d game it appears that only one of those processors ever gets used. It looks like the other one is always idle even if the first has high load (like 80%+). Seems like this is wrong. So I am wondering if my score is low because of not being OCed at all, because I don't have some software for my GPU set up right or because my GPU is messed up.

2) My second question is that I did some basic overclocking. All I did was step up the frequency 300MHz (so I am running at 2.7Ghz) and then I adjusted the FSB multiplier to 3.2 so that I was not running my memory above 960. I left all the other settings at the default so they would automatically change my RAM timings and Voltages. I ran Prime95 for a good 3 hours without any failures and my core temps were never above the high 40s. So I ran CPU Score for 3dmark again and it actually went DOWN to 1945 from 2370. Any idea why?
