OCZ EL DDR PC-4800 Platinum Not working @ 600Mhz

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

Ive had a DFI SLI-DR since it was released and at the time i bought 4x512 sticks of OCZ EL DDR PC-4800 Platinum because it was listed on the DFI site as recomended. well ever since getting the memory ive never been able to get it to run at its full speed 600Mhz. ive always had to run it @ 400 with tight timings of 2-2-2-5 T2.

Well today ive decided ive paid for this stuff so i wanna getting it working properly.

Ive tried using mem test with the memory @ 600Mhz and it fails on test 6 with timings of 2.5-6-6-15.

Ive tried just testing 1 stick and 2 sticks but they always fail. it comes to make me think its the motherboard as i cant see all 4 sticks being faulty.

Could someone maybe try and help me out.?

What are the recommended timings for 600? I imagine it's going to be CL of 3 and you have it set to 2.5. Raise the CL to 3.

Whoa man it's rare to see 2x1gb kits reaching ddr600 but 4x512 will probabaly never reach that

you'll need to drop to atleast 3-4-4-8 to even get close to that so start from there

idk maybe a bad memory controller?

if not probabaly time to rma

but have you checked each sticks individual spd timing table?

maybe they arent all matched because i know they'll let your rma if they all arent matched

Fist just to make sure, when you say 2.5-4-4-10 you have it entered in as 2.5-4-10-4 correct?

And I would guess its one of the other memory settings holding you back, could be something simple. Take an A64 screenshot so we can see all your timings, I'm sure some of these guys are really good with that stuff.

By the way, what voltages have you tried?

Its not a memory controler prob as ive had about 10 cpus in this board in its time and its always been the same.

Yes the timings were inputted corectly. i even set everything else to auto incase something was causing a problem but still no luck :(

Wots an A64 screenshot? please not i can only get into windows when the mem is @ 400Mhz. but im able to use timings 2-2-2-5 @ 2.85V

Don't worry about all 4, you're never going to get all of them running at DDR600, they're rated for a pair of sticks only. The memory controller on the cpu can't handle it.

If thats what you're aiming for I'd advise just find the best you can and stay with it. :)
