catkicker Posted March 6, 2006 Posted March 6, 2006 Just picked up one of these Model Number:ST3200827AS Capacity:200 GB Speed:7200 rpm Seek time:8 ms avg Interface:SATA 3Gb/s Is there any thing other then plugging it in and formating that I need to do? I know the MB I have does not support this interface but it does support SataII are there any bios settings or anything else i need to do to get it up to SataII speeds? Thank's
red930 Posted March 6, 2006 Posted March 6, 2006 The motherboard does support SATA II. SATA I = 1.5Gps (theoretical internal interface transfer rate) SATA II - 3.0Gps (same as above) That drive is SATA II 3.0Gbps You don't need to do anything to the drive or the O/S. It will automatically detect it's optimum interface rate.
