Which video card should I buy?
gmupatriot2010 replied to PremiumAcc's topic in Video Cards and Monitors
Buy whichever one is cheaper. In my opinion, go with the 560 Ti. Nvidia has good driver support and you seem to get better performance across the board with Nvidia than AMD based cards. (I have a HD 5850 and a 560Ti and I like the 560Ti much better for its driver support). JMHO -
If I win the contest I would use the power supply to power: E6600 - Oc'd @ 3.6Ghz (Cooled by Zalman CPS 9700) (1)XFX 5850 Oc'd @ 800mhz Core & 1275mhz Mem (3) 1 TB Hardrives (1) 500 GB Hitachi Hardrive Motherboard Asus LGA775 (4) 1GB G.skill Memory DDR2 at 1000Mhz (5-5-5-15) (2) LG DVD-RW Drive (3) 120mm Fans All of this wrapped in a Mid-Tower VelocityMicro Aluminum Case

Hello, I am building a new computer for gaming and want to know how to go about deciding which SSD to purchase Right now, I am stuck between these two but I want to know what the main difference is: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820148348 for $244 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820148362 for $290 Why the price difference? Are they not the same? If not, how are they different? Performance is better maybe? If you think this is not a good SSD to purchase please link me to other SSD's and I would appreciate it. The max I am willing to spend is $280 on an SSD so there is the budget Thanks everyone

I purchased an XFX 5850 about 5 weeks ago and as far as the charts are concerned, the GTX 560 has the ATI 5850 beat to hell ...I paid $215 and this is $259

I do have a MicroCenter near where I live so I will check that out and hopefully they have the i-7 950 for $225. That will indeed save me some money, thanks!! If I have no luck finding an i7-950 for $225 from MicroCenter then I will probably go for the i5-760 to save some money and I will overclock the hell out of it

Hello everyone, My P5NE SLI mobo was bricked during a failed attempt to update the BIOS in order to run the newly purchased XFX 5850. So instead of buying a new mobo or sending this one back to ASUS, I have decided that its time to upgrade a few things. So far, I am looking into getting a new mobo (duh), cpu, ram, and a cpu cooler. The main use of this computer is gaming+surfing+watching movies. I overclock the CPU, GPU, and RAM to the max while staying within safe temps and voltage This is what I have for the parts that need to be purchased: CPU: i7-870 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819115213 MOBO: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813131621 OR http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813131482 RAM: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820231314 COOLER: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835106150 The parts I already have: Harddrive: Got Three of them Soundcard: X-Fi Xtreme Music Videocard: XFX 5850 1Gb Powersupply: PC P&C Silencer MKii 750watts http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817703027 Now, my real question is this: Should I stick with that I am buying? If not please recommend what you believe is a better buy. Should I wait for the next gen Intel CPU's to come out in early January?

Oh maaaan!!...I purchased this computer from Best Buy in late spring 2008. The computer is a MicroVelocity computer so I dont know if Asus will accept my RMA for this board. Unfortunately, MicroVelocity only provides a warranty for 1 year. Ahh...this sucks. Well it seems like I will be out of a comp for at least 4-6 weeks. This will give me the reason to build a new computer with an i7 9xx series chip to compliment the XFX 5850

Hey everyone, so I finally received my XFX 5850 and I installed the video card and plugged in the 2 six-pin plugs. Upon pressing the power button, the computer would not POST the bios at all. After 30 or so seconds I would hear 1 long beep and 3 short beeps. So I took the card out put my older card back into the mobo and everything worked fine. I researched online about this and it seems that almost 90% of the users who have the Asus P5NE-SLI motherboard are having trouble with the 58xx series ATI cards. Its something to do with the NVidia chip or something. I heard that updating the bios to the latest 1406 might solve the issue. This is where things went bad. I downloaded the latest BIOS and put in on a USB drive. Restarted the comp, went into the BIOS, and under tool say the EZ Flash or something similar. Used that to flash the BIOS from 1301 to 1406. After the flash the computer restarted and just hung at a message saying "New CPU detected, writing BIOSNIP in progressing" "Do NOT turn off or reset comptuer"..well after waiting for about 15 - 20 minutes nothing happened. So I was forced to restart the computer and now if wont post again, but this time its with the video card that DID work...am I out of a mobo guys? Is this thing bricked? I took out the battery and tried to reset the CMOS that way but nothing works!! Any help?? Please
