  1. Thanks! I'll tell him to give it a shot.
  2. Could anyone help me out? A friend of mine has a very sluggish HDD, but luckily it still runs. He wants to clone it to a new drive (it's the primary). Can anyone lend how-to info on that?
  3. Awesome! Well the debit just came out of my bank account so it's official, here's my rig: Intel i7-920 CPU Asus P6T Deluxe v2 Motherboard Patriot Gamer Series 6GB DDR3-1600MHz RAM Sapphire Radeon HD5870 Video Card Western Digital Caviar Black 640GB 7200RPM HDD Plextor 24X DVD/CD Writer Optical Drive Corsair CMPSU-850TX 850W PSU Thermaltake Element G Mid-tower Case Windows 7 Home 64-bit Because this thing has made me utterly broke I'll have to wait on the Cooler Master V8 for my CPU, and until then simply keep it at its stock clock speeds with its stock cooler. I will update my profile when I have it built (est. December 30th). Thanks to those who helped, and thank goodness for sites like this one to offer people and reviews to help me in this topic!
  4. Alright. Sapphire as good as xfx?
  5. Do you know where I can find an XFX ATI Radeon HD5870? It's sold out everywhere I look!
  6. Yeah it is. I gotta question, XFX's site says the 5870 has a min of 500W draw, is my power supply going be enough? what about for two? Also Newegg sold out on all models of the 5870, so if you know where one is for approx 400 dollars please let me know.
  7. Very nice, but only 2 6-pin PCIe, so no go. The XFX 5870 takes two PCIe's, so it cuts off the ability to upgrade to dual.
  8. Still, thanks a ton. If you or anyone else have a suggestion I'm still willing to hear it! Signing out for the night.
  9. Oh my gosh, that's awesome, thank you! I think that $80 just put me in budget! And I'm gonna be running all my items by this store now to make sure I'm not overpaying anything else.
  10. Is there some kind of promo going on? A $80 discount is huge!!! I'll need to get someone I know in Columbus, OH to grab one for me then, since I'm no where near any stores. How long is this sale?
  11. Sorry, I didn't. It makes perfect sense but if the i9 was out I'd insist on that, X3 That's the part I built the rest around so I'm attached.
  12. And how do I know/where can I find a 920 D0 SLBEJ? -edit I see there is a BX80601920 model number 920 that is what you say and one that is not. I do not see how I can tell through the store though. The non-slebj ones have apparently been discontinued http://ark.intel.com/Product.aspx?id=37147
  13. I would, but I cannot get a decent modular unit without throwing another $70 or so into the game, and considering I'm still looking to shed $90 from the current, I cannot make the investment. Also I'll be using a Thermaltake Element G case, so cable management all goes behind the motherboard tray, which is very good also for bundling unused cables and managing used ones.
  14. I very much appreciate your going out of your way to set up an entire second build for me. That was more than just advice and I'm thankful for that, but reading the article on Intel's release of the i7 a while back is why I decided to overclock my own built computer, so it's a point I will illogically stick to. Thanks for the ram info,
  15. Awesome, I did not know that. So the 1600MHz listed on the box is the recommended maximum, which will likely be plenty. I have little understanding of how to OC RAM so I don't know what those ratios are, I've mainly been researching how to OC the i7.
