This is exactly what I am looking to do with this device, so I was really excited to see this review. I have a Hi8 camcorder with a zillion tapes that I want transferred before they all become a big mass of dropouts. I am curious as to why the reviewer would use composite video for Hi8. Surerly no one with a Hi8 transfer would want to do this.
I'm wondering if S-Video was tried, and what the results were compared to composite. I can only imagine how ugly composite transfers would look when replayed on a modern TV. Also, S-Video would be far more comparable to the 400+ line DVD output, or even mini DV. Also - any experiments with the other inputs?
Thanks for checking this product out. I've had a few TB cards (Santa Cruz was always my recommendation for PC builds and upgrades in it's day. Nothing ever came close for consumer audio).
