hi, not been on here for awhile.(years) anyway im after a little bit of help im currently halfway through building my tower so far the spec is amd fx8350 @ 4.2 turbocore msi gtx660 2gb oc eddition 16 gb of kingston 99U5471-020.A00LF gigabyte ga-970a-d3 rev 2.0 f12 segate baracuda 500gb and 1tb (getting 250gb ssd on pay day for system )maybe Samsung 840 evo? corsair rm1000 running arctic freezer pro 13 heat sink (to be replaced with a full system water cooled loop soon) corsair carbide 540 3x120 aerocool dead silents 1x140 aerocool dead silent 2 x 140mm corsair running at 7 volts (something or other came with the case but will be changed when i do the water cooling) the system is going to be used for mainly rendering on things like sony vegas 13 etc but i want to start gaming aswell (nothing hardcore but i would like to be able to play modern games as and when they come out aswell) so anyways ive tried to give you all the details i think maybe relevant, could anybody advise me on a better mother board as i want to overclock my system and when looking at reviews etc they all say stable high oc with this board is a big no no it wont cope. so my question. is what board should i be looking at?(its the one from my old shop bought fx4100 system. so is the ram) so yeah just a little advice and a decent mobo for a good overclcock would be good im after something for now and also possibly the future as the system goes on (if that make sense?) im not perticually fussed about cost i would prefer a decent mobo to set me up for the future rather then skimping on cheapness if anybody sees anything with my spec which could be better or is currently a bottle neck will they please speak up and point this out as this is my first build and i want the best performance and stability out of what i have. anyway time to stop rambling lol thanks in advance for any help and support . ash

just ran my benchmark in the extreme mode and got 4345 as a phisical score but my total score was crap due to graphics card been poop lol
-
just purchased and currently downloading the proper version of future mark then i will take my oc off and run it and then re apply my oc and the can give a proper comparisent
-
ok im back ive ran the free version and i have attached my current bench mark results (ignore the graphics card its getting changed soon)
-
ok so i have just done a quick one for u to see on amd over drive and im sure the stock bench using amd overdrive was something in the region of 5150 im in the process of having my tea so bare with me i will run the benchmark on future mark 11 (free edition) and will post the results without the next hour ..... if people can post the stand clock benchmarks as well then we would have something to compare with ?
-
hi yes i did and it just would not hold stable and kept bsod`ing all the time . im about to run some current benchmarks so i can quote u all the accurate figures of what i am getting but the system does some much faster and quicker to respond (not that it was slow before) screen prints and figures coming shortly

hi all, just thought i would post my overclock details of my bios to help others as i know its been a fair struggle to get stable at 4.5ghz with this cpu on air cooling. on intel burn test (and amd overdrive stablity test) this oc runs all tests from standard to maximum burn with 16gb of ram and a normal working temp of 45c and a max burn temp of 52 .........18c room temp the spec: amd fx4100,arctic pro 13 @4.5ghz gigabyte ga970a-d3 16gb ddr3 kingston ram nividia gt440 1gb,core 910mhz,memory 1800mhz 2 arctic pro f8 as custom gpu cooler 500gb system hdd segate baracduda 1tb storage hdd segate baracuda 480watt psu mars blue case arctic f12 front intake arctic f8 side case arctic f9 exhaust fan dual layer dvd windows 7 ultimate 64x (fans controlled via speed fan) any questions or advice please feel free to share, thanks

hi been round to lawzy`s tonight and we both fitted the heat sink, no we didn't use to much (he`s already done all the research for applying the paste) made sure it was a thin but all over covering with no floors in the coating . we also removed the plastic off the heat sink (i did it) now as far as i know he is going to try it again on a burn test with a colder ambient room his room was 24-to 25c so hes going to give it another go in the morning when there's no central heating lol. we also dropped the core volts down to 1.35 (my similar fx4100 runs fine at this on a 4.5ghz oc) and id did bring his temps down a bit 62c under load if i remember correct
