  1. I've had this keyboard http://www.amazon.com/Microsoft-Reclusa-Gaming-Keyboard-Black/dp/B000MR1XWK/ for quite a while now (almost 5 years) and it has been quite an adventure. The basic UI it came with was perfect (as I don't want to spend hours and hours trying to figure out how to open my media player with 1 button). Leading me to my basic and very important need for a new gaming keyboard. My new keyboard will need to have media controls...that open things besides Windows Media Player (Ituns, Spotify, etc). I despise WMP and often click to use my music without a thought. It's convenient and a luxury I no longer choose to live without. I don't care whether the KB is mechanical or not as long as the keys aren't squished together, raised to ridiculous "ergonomic" heights, or covered in a rubber that will fade in a few months. My reclusa has just one button that the letter has faded from in it's 4 years of use, I think that's pretty awesome when world of warcraft is basically just spamming one button for hours at a time. I would like my new KB to have macro keys besides the media panel (which I'm assuming all gaming KBs come with today) and as user-friendly as possible. I looked up the BlackWidow linked as the "Unicorn" KB on MMO's Setup of the Month and found that quite a few people are experiencing issues with keys becoming stuck in some way or another or just failing to work at all...something like 8-9%. I don't want to play the lottery when I'm spending this much money on a luxury item. The "Narwhal" keyboard G110 seemed fantastic until I realized the keys are TINY, smaller than my laptops keyboard. This is just unacceptable. So all-in-all guys (and gals), I am looking for your kind help. If you've got the perfect KB (or maybe have owned one in the past) that meets my needs, please post its name/model! Very much appreciated Also, what the hell is the big deal with "mechanical" keyboards? Req. Again: 1) Keys that won't fade 2) Keys the standard (or close to) size 3) Media controls (for things besides WMP) 4) Easily programmable macro keys 5) Backlit (Could be red, white, and blue as long as it lights up with some form of lighting) 6) Not required but would be nice, headphone jack that does not cut out any sound
  2. Well, I'm potentially building a new system of my own (just need that damn wife approval). I am a firm believer of more eyes being better than a single pair. Does anyone see any obviously bad choices, parts that could be swapped for roughly the same price, or places to shave off a few bucks? Case: NZXT Apollo Black SECC Steel Chassis ATX Mid Tower Mobo: Gigabyte GA-P55-UD3L CPU: Intel i5 750 RAM: g.Skill 4GB (2x2GB) DDR3 1600 GPU: XFX Radeon HD 5770 1GB PSU: Corsair CMPSU-650TX 650W Ethusiast Series HSF: XIGMATEK Dark Knight with i5 bracket kit I'm not in need of drives, keyboard, mouse, or other peripherals, as they will be coming over from my old system. I should probably include my usage information. I use my system primarily for WoW, but also play some games on the side (currently Mass Effect 3 and Left 4 Dead 2). I might also be doing some video capture and editing in the future, but I expect it its capable of the above it shouldnt be an issue.
  3. I've been playing games for more than 12 years with KB+Mouse and have never used a controller before. Games are becoming more and more controller optimized and I have an Eyefinity setup that would give a better experience with a gamepad, so I decided to get one I've narrowed my options to Razer Onza TE BF3 Edition (Wired): http://store.razerzone.com/store/razerusa/en_US/pd/productID.235034100/categoryId.54297600 And Microsoft Xbox 360 Wireless Controller for Windows : http://www.amazon.com/Microsoft-Xbox-Wireless-Controller-Windows/dp/B004QRKWKQ?tag=emjay2d-20&ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1322381006&sr=8-3 They both seem pretty good, but have heard very mixed views on razer products... Which one is better ?
  4. Alright so I've been through two extremely cheap network cards on my computer so far, and typically they've done this thing where they'd be fine (30-70 ping) and then thered be points to where they would get 800-1k ping and sometimes 2k ping. Most of them I've totally destroyed through rage, or by messing with the antenna (or what have you one was a USB) until I got my ping back. Is there anywhere I can get a network card that will frigen work, and I'm pretty sure it's not my router because I had a laptop which had no problem with internet (other than -2 fps on most games). I was thinking this one: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0054L9PWO/ref=as_li_ss_tl?ie=UTF or this one: http://www.wireless-reviews.com/routers/medialink-wireless-n-router-review
  5. Hi there guys, I'll keep it brief, I am in the market for a slightly bigger monitor to replace my 22" HP W2207 monitor. I am after a 24" model, IPS if possible and as low as possible response time. I was looking at the HP ZR24W, but it now appears to be discontinued (but some places are still selling them). The replacement for that one is a LED backlit one; ZR2440W. We use Dell monitors at work and they seem to be reliable, however this one is going to be mainly used for gaming. I don't want 3D so a 120hz model isn't required. This monitor (UltraSharp U2410) seems pretty great, but it is alittle bit more expensive then id like. Any other suggestions would be welcome.
  6. Hey, I've been struggling trying to find out what I should use to increase my WiFi connection so I can play games like TF2 and Garry's Mod. I know, WiFi is terrible for online gaming, but I don't have too much other choices. I can't move my router and I'm using a desktop, not a laptop, so I cannot simply move my computer (I also can't move it due to the lack of space in my house). Anyways, I was wondering whether I should get a wireless repeater or a wireless adapter. I've somewhat singled it down to two different products (one a repeater and one an adapter) and just wanted to know if they were any good or if someone could suggest one for me. http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B004NBL9WK/ref=as_li_ss_tl?ie=UTF8&tag=emjay2d-20&linkCode=as2&camp=217145&creative=399373&creativeASIN=B004NBL9WK http://www.bestbuy.com/site/Amped+Wireless+-+UA600+IEEE+802.11n+%28draft%29+USB+-+Wi-Fi+Adapter/4360379.p?id=1218475609100&skuId=4360379
  7. Anyone have any knowledge on pc gaming headsets? was thinking about getting these http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000RVD89M/ref=as_li_ss_tl?ie=UTF8&tag=emjay2d-20&linkCode=as2&camp=1789&creative=390957&creativeASIN=B000RVD89M or these http://steelseries.com/products/audio/steelseries-siberia-v2 help if you can. or mehbeh just say which ones seem best bang for the buck
  8. Im in the business of looking to purchase a new desktop computer for gaming. I will be playing Skyrim, Mass Effect 3, and maybe Battlefield 3. I want the PC to be near top of the line, being able to run these games at a solid 30fps or more, on medium to ultra graphic settings. Besides that, I also do intense 3d Modeling that really requires a top notch machine considering I move around near 30k polygons on a good work day (or bad work day, considering the computers performance ) Ive narrowed it down to a few choices, but that certainly dosent mean I wont stray away from them. http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B002UR36J8/ref=as_li_ss_tl?ie=UTF8&linkCode=as2&camp=1789&creative=390957&creativeASIN=B002UR36J8 This is the MAIN option im really looking for input on. http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B005TJKI8G/ref=as_li_ss_tl?ie=UTF8&tag=emjay2d-20&linkCode=as2&camp=1789&creative=390957&creativeASIN=B005TJKI8G http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B005TJKI8G/ref=as_li_ss_tl?ie=UTF8&linkCode=as2&camp=1789&creative=390957&creativeASIN=B005TJKI8G http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16883229271
  9. Oh, im sorry, I forgot to say what motherboard I have. According to cpu-z, its a pegatron narra3.
  10. Well right now i have a amd phenom x4 9150e at 1.8ghz.. its pretty slow when i run some games like skyrim and company of heroes and starcraft 2.. so i was wondering what would be the best cpu i could buy without upgrading the mobo?? i was told by a friend that the AMD Phenom II X4 840 would be a good choice. But also i was suggested the AMD A6-3650 Llano 2.6GHz. what do you think about these choices? and any other suggestions are more than welcome. Id like to stick to newegg or amazon, as they are both very reputable companys with personal experience with.
  11. So I have a 350 buget for building a new pc all i need is a cpu/motherboard and video card. I'm down to these 4 to pick from, but other ideas for builds are more than welcome. thank you. 12. Recently purchased AKG Q701 headphones and although they feel a little flimsy for their price tag they do sound great. I'm still debating what to power them with as my Xonar DG is rather noisy and weak. I've been looking at various dac & amp combos but for 200$, a solid soundcard like this doesn't seem like a bad idea. What do you guys think? HT | OMEGA Claro Halo 24-bit 192KHz PCI Interface Sound Card w/ a built-in HI-FI Headphone Amplifier ASUS Xonar Essence STX Virtual 7.1 Channels 24-bit 192KHz PCI Express x1 Interface 124 dB SNR / Headphone AMP Card Budget is ~ 200$
  13. Thanks a bunch for the responses. I recently was told about the "claw" and "palm" grip method for mice, and realised my method was "claw". "palm" seems very unnatural. I think im going to go ahead and get the Cooler Master CM Storm Spawn, as it seems FANTASTIC for a claw user, and designed as such. Again, thanks for all the responses!
  14. I was on Amazon.com looking at the Logitech gaming mice and keyboards. In particular, this keyboard: http://www.amazon.com/Logitech-920-002232-Gaming-Keyboard-G110/dp/B002RRLQIO/ref=wl_it_dp_o_npd?ie=UTF8&coliid=I3HFPICXO2YVFH&colid=3CXCNQ4RANJ32 And this mouse: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B002J9GDXI/ref=as_li_ss_tl?ie=UTF8&tag=emjay2d-20&linkCode=as2&camp=1789&creative=390957&creativeASIN=B002J9GDXI I've never owned a gaming mouse or keyboard before. So I am wondering what the benefits really are in gameplay. Starting off with the mouse, I can't recall what my Microsoft laser mouse DPI is but I'm sure it's nowhere near the 5700 of the Logitech gaming mouse above. How much difference does that really make say when playing a shooter? How does it affect gameplay? Is it easier to aim quickly and accurately? Does it help you to play better? There must be some reason people like them. I'd like to understand how beneficial they are. As for all the extra buttons I don't honestly see myself using them. Do people really find all those buttons on a mouse helpful? What for? What do people activate with them? On to the Logitech gaming keyboards. The one I linked above I think is their entry level model. I like the backlit keys feature. That is pretty cool. Some of the other stuff seems pretty useless to me personally. The defining feature of this keyboard really seems to be the macro keys. So the question is, what are they good for? I'm trying to imagine what I'd want to macro in a shooter for example. What would I want to macro playing some RPG? What would I want to macro playing World of Warcraft? Once again, people like these a lot for some reason but I am honestly clueless about what specifically it is. So please enlighten the clueless! Thanks a lot for any feedback on this stuff. I appreciate it.
  15. This is my current config. http://valid.canardpc.com/show_oc.php?id=2240249 I was thinking about changing my motherboard to LGA1155 H61 MSI H61M-P23 http://www.amazon.com/MSI-LGA1155-B3-Motherboard-H61M-P23/dp/B004RPNM86/ My processor to Intel® Core™ i3-2100 http://www.amazon.com/Intel-i3-2100-Processor-3-1GHz-LGA1155/dp/B004JEVGMO/ I only have 2 gb ddr2 ram and to get 2 gb more is more expensive than getting 4gb ddr3. but to do that i have to change my motherboard to newer model so as my socket. My graphic card has 1gb gddr3 rest is on the picture.
