#2111846 Capacitor replacement

Posted by Stonerboy779 on 07 January 2014 - 04:09 AM

Then look for replacement parts unless you can get the dimensions and markings of all the capacitors. You will also need to be able to differentiate between electrolytic, film, ceramic caps and so on.
I still believe you'd have a better time getting a $10-20 board (if its the mobo that's gone as I suspect) off of ebay.

You've already stated you're not confident enough to properly identify and replace them so save yourself the hassle. But as far as replacements go, so long as they come out rated the same with the same tolerances and are replaced in the same polarity it should work regardless of brand.

#2103884 I Hate Auto Shops

I am so glad that we have a trustworthy mechanic now, he has fixed all the issues the old mechanic caused. In fact a few services ago it showed up that my old mechanic changed over only a single front break pad because that was good enough and that pad wasn't properly lined up either. Then there was the matter of it never been mentioned to me that the head was cracked and I had a very slow leak of water into the cylinders. Its not worth getting fixed because its a 18 year old car which is technically already written off due to storm damage. My mechanic now is just draining it and keeping on top of the small amount of water that makes its way in when he services it. However one day it'll just seize up.

just found out you can be eaten by sharks, can't wait for a PC release.

#2094059 Just about ready to buy this Haswell build, could you check it over?

Posted by Stonerboy779 on 07 July 2013 - 02:13 AM

Where are you located? Might be worth getting stuff shipped in a single order from PCCG or MWave etc.

Also you got the 2012 overhaul for Morrowind? That maxed out really does stress a GPU. Especially when you start force loading extra cells and up the distant landscape quality. Not to mention just generally having the better meshes and higher Res textures.

God i love that game haha

The Fast and The Furious and 2 Fast 2 Furious. Me and the gf are rewatching the series before we see the 6th movie. It may be yet another pointless action movie but neither of us care haha

#2089657 How to Orient Fans

Most common setup is to use front, bottom and side locations for intake fans and the rear and top locations for exhaust.

#2089423 Luxa2 P1 7000mAh High Capacity Battery & Charger Reviewed

Wired. What a battery charger is doing in a PC overclocking forum's review section? :teehee:

No one has laptops? Or tablets, phones, cameras, MP3 players, handheld game systems?

I guess not. Too much like assuming people, on the forum and visitors to the site, would be techies.

Also I've never seen the need for one of these always been able to get enough use age and heavy use age at that, out of my portable devices.

#2087261 Guides Wanted At OCC

Posted by Stonerboy779 on 02 May 2013 - 11:59 AM

I'll make up one on speaker set up, soundcards and sound settings.
This will be for Win 7 and I will consider adding a section for Win 8 at a later point.

Covering -
- USB Audio
- Optical/Coaxial Audio
- Installing a PCI-e soundcard
- Drivers/software
- Multi-channel audio
- 2.0 vs 2.0 vs 5.1/7.1 - pros/cons and applications
- onboard vs internal vs external soundcards - pros/cons and applications
- hooking up cables etc
- selecting and managing playback and recording devices

Considering the depth of the guide I should have it done within a fortnight.

Don't take this the wrong way, but is a soundcard really necessary?
I use HDMI from PC to receiver with optical audio and HDMI from receiver to TV.
So my receiver has 5.1
It seems as if I am getting good audio from the PC. Would a souncard make a difference?

That's why I am going through all sorts of things. Look at the pros/cons bit. I should also put HDMI audio in there too. Not everyone had a received with HDMI audio as well there are plenty of different situations out there.

Close your browser, you dont need it while gaming. Also this is overclockers club so a bit of overclocking never goes astray.

#2083820 MoBo problems? Maybe!

Posted by Stonerboy779 on 08 April 2013 - 04:05 PM

^^ They are costly!!
And I missed OP's location.

Aus is costly hence I bought a GTX690 from wardozerx at a price that was $400 less than aus prices haha.

Some.people have issues with asrock boards but in my personal experience and the experience of reletives I have using asrock boards there has been no issues.

Cloud computing (and gaming) seems like an amazing idea, but I just can't shake the notion that it is going to stifle technological advancement in the long run.

Cloud is the future of, man! For everything!!
Skynet here we come.
most are to young to get it...but yep...didn't it become sentient at 6 cores ? or was it 8 ?
So AMD with all their cores will bring us down?

#2080800 No more John Riccitiello at EA

Posted by Stonerboy779 on 18 March 2013 - 02:27 PM

He's actually proud of what he has down and how he has steered EA?

So alienating customers, shoving DRM down peoples throats, overcharging for crippled games and having incremental DLC just so you can get the full game, creating an unseeded online service and keeping AAA titles of the biggest PC game selling platform.... this is what he is proud of?

I'd prefer the Grado SR 60i at that price point. But it depends what you want. I tend to avoid headphones from PC accessory and component companies.

#2079989 The Official 'i Just Bought...' Thread

Posted by Stonerboy779 on 11 March 2013 - 10:38 PM

OMG OMG OMG OMG okay I am done now haha

However apparently my AKG Q701s now have bass.... who woulda thunk it haha.

My JDS Labs CmoyBB arrived today. Purchased around 5:30 on Friday arvo and in less than 20 mins it was processed and shipped and it arrives on the Tuesday after the public holiday on Monday so very happy with my service.

Using it right now with my Stoner Audio UD100 USB DAC and they where practically made for each other and when I flip the Bass Boost switch it opens up a whole side of the Q701s that I have not enjoyed yet.

Cannot wait till I have a chance to mod the UD100 directly into the housing of the Altoids tin. My only regret now is that my workplace is no place for my new headphone amp :( definitely not dust proof enough and waterproof enough to survive life at a nursery. However now I shall enjoy it playing through my collection of FLAC rips of Apocalyptica albums.

Oh and pics haha

#2079836 Looking for $300 video card to play Crysis 3 on maximum settings.

Posted by Stonerboy779 on 10 March 2013 - 05:24 AM

I might buy a single 7950 instead and overclock it on air, no CF, and reach 7970 performance levels.

Currently, which is the better card out of these three cards in terms of cooler, PCB, temps, noise and price?

1.) Sapphire 100352-3L Dual-X 7950 with boost

2.) Vapor-X 7950

3.) MSI Twin Frozr R7950?

google is there for a reason.....

And OCC is here for a reason too.... namely to help people with questions like this.

I myself am partial to sapphire vapor-x cooling.
