    Drivers

Ran a clean install of Windows 10 on my rig (in signature) but I cant install mobo drivers cause they dont run versions past windows 8.1 on ASUS support. What do you guys do in this instance?

    Should I?

Hi guys, Its been awhile. Ive been using my rig (signature) for years now and it can no longer handle high end games or graphics. Im not sure what to do with it though so im hoping for advice. Would you upgrade components, which ones? or go for a new build? Everything is running at stock speeds. Would love to hear your thoughts! CPU: Phenom II x6 1090T BE @ 3.2 MOBO: ASUS M4A89TD PRO/USB3 RAM: Corsair Vengeance 24GB 1600 GPU: ASUS 6950 2GB @ stock Storage: WD Caviar Black 640GB + Vertex 3 OS Drive Chassis: Lian Li Lancool K63 Cooling: CM Hyper 212+ PSU: Corsair HX750 Display: ASUS VH236H x2
  3. Thank you I was hoping there would just be a updated model I could look at. The stand does look completely redone. Do you think it will sit higher than the stand on the VH236H? I know the one I have now doesnt have any adjustment in the stand and it sits on my desk. I see the VH238H has the identical stand but that monitor is apparently already out of date as well. I am worried the second monitor will not line up correctly. Also why would they go from 2ms (VH236H) to 5ms in the VS239H-P. Would this cause issues? You're welcome. Took a bit of digging to find it since ASUS doesn't explicitly state the new model, but luckily Amazon does. Response time isn't an issue at all and is barely noticeable when it's under 12ms. As for it sitting higher, there's a chance since the stand only allows for tilt adjustments. If it does sit a bit higher, you could place a magazine or something under the other screen to make it even. Or if you don't mind spending a bit more, you can pick up a dual monitor mount and then just attach the screens to it. Not really, no. You can play around with brightness/contrast settings on both to get them both looking right. The newer one is an e-IPS panel though, so the colors on it are going to look a bit better than the older one regardless of brightness/contrast levels. Alright thanks for the help, unless anyone recommends otherwise the plan is to go with the VS239H-P then use this dual monitor mount to set everything up. Hopefully it doenst end up looking awkward.
  4. Btw in regards to LCD vs LED should I even worry about it?

  6. I currently use the ASUS VH236H and I am now looking to get a second monitor. I was originally going to get a second VH236H but I see they are discontinued for whatever reason and was wondering if anyone knew why? I will be using this for work purposes to start since I am a complete noob to multiple monitor anything, however I am open to the idea of multiple monitor gaming in the future. Any advice or tips? Should I be looking at a different monitor? I would prefer them to look at similar as possible just for OCD reasons . Thanks in advance!
  7. How does this deal sound to you guys? I just impulse bought 2 of these, and im curious if I made the best decision. I'm surprised they haven't sold out already at that price. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820227791 edit: wrong link

    Civilization V

Does anyone know if having the DLC or the Expansion Gods and Kings will interfere with playing online with people who don't have them? I Googled around but couldn't find anything about this.
  10. Looks great, excellent choice on components! I would recommend flashing the BIOS to the latest version, and also to get the latest and greatest versions of the drivers from Asus, usually the drivers off the CD are outdated. After that I would also do some stress testing to make sure the system is "stock stable".
  11. It probably is possible i just don't see the point. I would think occupying two slots with 8gb(2x4) would be better than occupying 3 slots 6gb(3x2), 8gb at 1333 will be your best bet. Its cheap so why not. Higher speeds wont get you anywhere noticeable and I don't like stressing the CPU just for the numbers. Fewer occupied RAM slots = better.
  12. I would go with more capacity before faster speed, plus Ive read the phenom memory controller doesn't handle speeds above 1333 very well sometimes and can be very hard on it and reduce life. Your better off tightening timings with 1333 over OCing to higher speeds. With 8gb kits being on sale for around 70-80$ that's what I would go with. (2x4gb sticks)
  13. What is the color scheme for the components that you are going to use? I think white could probably be pretty awesome. Top it if with some of those white and black NZXT fans.. So i guess my vote might be black with white accents.. grill etc. Thats an excellent case for the money btw. I really like the look of the 912.

  15. I would definitely get an AM3+ mobo and probably get a used phenom II x4 for cheap then drop in a bulldozer when convenient. Other than that those are all quality choices for hardware
