  1. Hey Nyt Ryda, this contest might be more visible if it were placed under the "contests" tab. It doesnt seem to be used for much else right now. Just a thought to get this more noticed
  2. CPU - Intel2500K. Great streamlined quadcore for everything youll wanna do. Hyper 212+ is a great choice! Motherboard - MSI P67A-GD65 (B3) I like MSI boards over AS rock and Gigabyte, the board you have is fine I would think however GPU -Yes, you cant crossfire nvidia on an AMD board (without an inferior sli chipset) Pretty sure you can crossfire on intel though. nVidia 560 Ti or AMD 6950. As mentioned ealier, that direct CU is a THREE slot card, you can run out of room fast! Case - Dont need to spend 200 on a HAF X in my opinion, put that money toward an SSD or better graphics card! HAF 932 you have is nice though as well! NZXT Phantom, Storm Scout, CM 690 II PSU - Corsair AX750. Great efficiency plus modular!!! RAM - More about the CAS latency (look for 7 or at most 8) than the difference between 1333 or 1600. Mushkin Blackline or Corsair Vengeance Hard Drive - Good experiences with Caviar Black, I have 2 of them in my rig now! 1 TB is good Solid State Drive? Would boot things a lot faster and the prices are coming down! I recommend OCZ vertex 2, Vertex 3's are still new (read:expensive) You could wait until bulldozer comes out and compare performance, expected in July I believe. I dont know your location so I cant quote prices or stock, the links are just for product info/comparison. Also, price range would be helpful! These are just my opinions Happy Building Mate! .
  3. Am I missing something? Where does he say we will SLI them? I do trust corsair PSUs however. Also, as always, I would recommend the Cooler Master Storm Scout if your vendor carries it. Cheaper and inside is power coated black, vs ugly gray (IMO) Me loves mine
  4. I was going to ask you if you really needed the Max IOPS edition SSD, but then I looked and its $13 dollars cheaper (with shipping).. Riddle me that . As for the power supply, you will definately want at least 1000w if you intend to SLI later. Its always cheaper to get more than you need than to have to buy a second, larger, power supply down the road!
  5. Yes, I will buy your Cooler Master Silent Pro Gold 1200w for $200. :)

  6. I think the whole setup will be great for what you're doing, the only thing I would change is the graphics card. The 5870 is a beast of a card, but I think the new generation AMD's are less power hungry and more future proof, while being close to as powerful. You could have this bad boy for 190 shipped. Im not sure who is still selling 5870's so I dont really know the price on those, but either way I think that card would be perfect for what you need while being more efficient (and quieter?). Good luck mate! and welcome to overclockers club!
  7. A good psu for 50 bucks is kind of hard to find (not familiar with the xfx however^). If you plan on upgrading (IE crossfiring the 5770's later) you might want to look at a more powerful unit than 550-600 watts. Good luck!
  8. I love learning new things! Especially when they save me money Thanks guys! Feser (of course) says that the uv properties will be much better when the uv fluid and uv tubing are used together. Is that true at all or just a marketing ploy? I wonder if the LED's in the reservoir will have the same effect as the UV with the feser one....
  9. Yea, as these guys said those are fine! I have an H50 first gen on my 955 at 3.8 and it idles at 31C some days, up to 38C other days. The room temp has a lot to do with it, and it fluctuates a lot in my dorm! When i brought it home last weekend and opened the windows in my basement (50F outside) the temps dropped down to around 24 idle. In other words, it was probly just the different ambient conditions that made the higher idle temps
  10. Another thing I read is that, at least with Feser One, they put the anti algae and anti corrosive stuff in there, plus they somehow make it nonconductive. So if something does leak during or after testing, its less likely to short anything. Plus I like the UV glow in my 5.25 res . As for the gunk in the blocks it seems that anytime people have stuff in their blocks, they jump to the liquid, when it could be some particles that got in their loop somehow or any number of other things. The thin pin matrices in blocks these days act as a filter and catch everything thats not supposed to be there. Some experiments with feser one after 6 months here and even after 5 years here. Water is cheaper though! Your rig, your call!
  11. Hello everyone, Ive built some computers before but am now attempting to water cool for the first time. I have a 6950 that i want to watercool as well as my proc. I have been researching waterbocks pretty thoroughly and have come down to this swiftech and this EK. I intend to crossfire or TriFire these in the future so that is also a factor. For me the pros for each of these water blocks are EK: Had good experiences with them before 20 dollars cheaper Ability to use the Ek crossfire link Swiftech: The full cover design is something I love The main thing however, is the performance, which I havent really been able to compare as they are both relatively new. If anyone has any opinions on the performance of either of these company's GPU blocks, or better yet owns one or both, the advice would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!
  12. Win7 Ultimate, got it from my university for $7 . Love that OS especially the security, UI, and its compatibility with old xp games!
  13. If anyone wants to see some of these you can look here to check out some of the archives of "armed citizen", which are stories about citizens who stopped crime because they had a firearm. Some of them may be a little pumped up since it IS the NRA after all, but overall interesting stories on how a gun can change the outcome of certain situations! No one mess with Nuclear . Looks really nice BTW maybe someday ill have the a comparable selection of spare parts!
  14. So the reason it would get so hot is due to the 30 FPI causing air resistance? What is the FPI i should be looking for for my 70CFM enermax magmas? I would like it if the radiator wasnt double thick, as I dont have too much room at the top of my case and it would make it really hard to fit fans on the top and bottom of the rad for push pull. Would This Black Ice or This EK or This Swiftech do the trick? Seriously, thanks for the help
