Suggestions for Am2+ Motherboard
strezz replied to strezz's topic in Processors, Motherboards and Memory
I've got a X3 720be. Im just looking for the best bang for the buck board. Im currently using an ECS A780GM-A black edition and just give me nothing but headaches. Dont get me wrong its a very reliable board but not that good in OCing. If you guys could suggest a board which is of course compatible with my chip in the mid-range DDR2 (dont want go to 3 yet) doesnt matter if it comes with 1 or 2 pcie slots i just have vid card anyways and of course with an excellent reputation for OCing. -
Hi, I've been thinking of upgrading my current mobo which is an ECS A780GM-A Black edition which in most views sucks at OCing so here are a couple of boards (in my price range) that i have chosen. Which board would you guys suggest would be the best for Gaming with a moderate OC? Gigabyte GA-MA790X-UD4P http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...=GA-MA790X-UD4P Gigabyte GA-MA790X-UD4 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...8-381-_-Product Asus M4A785TD-M EVO http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...1-406-_-Product I've been thinking of getting the Asus one since its already DDR3 which would ensure future proof.

Well my target hopefully is 3.4 which im sure is very doable on this chip. just need it to be stable at those speeds

Well I cant afford to buy a new mobo at the moment so im stuck with this. my cooler is a CM Hyper 212+ which in my opinion really doing a great job cooling my chip. Thanks for the info and i will check out the AMD website for more info..cheers

Hi guys, Im pretty new to this so please be gentle. So here's the story..Ive overclocked my Phenom II x3 720be on a ECS A-780GM-A mobo to 3.4Ghz by simply Adjusting Multiplier and voltage in AMD CPU Function on BIOS. My current Voltage is at 1.475v which i think is high, but lower than that i instantly crash on prime. So, with the current multiplier at x17 and cpu vid of 1.475v prime would crash after 2hrs of small fft's. I have C&Q disabled, HT Frequency is at auto (2000mhz i guess) and NB Fid is on x10 2000mhz. I have screen shots to show the very limited options that i know which i can tweak for overclocking Do i need to change the CPU freq and still have my multiplier at x17? Here are some other screenshots which might be able to give some ideas. I always set my HT frequency to auto, should i change it? The settings on this one is default which of course i dont use. its just to show what options i have to play around with As you can see i dont have any options to bump the NBVid but can be done via AMD overdrive. from what i recall its at 1.5v ...should i bump that up as well to achieve a stable system?
