    ok so i did some refining after reading your suggestions and doing some browsing and this is what i'm thinking about: Case:AZZA Solano 1000R Mobo:ASUS P6X58D Premium LGA 1366 Intel X58 CPU:Intel i7 920 CPU Cooling:ZALMAN CNPS9900 NT GPU:XFX HD-587A-ZND9 Radeon HD 5870 (Cypress XT) 1GB XXX Edition RAM:Patriot Extreme Performance Viper Series 12GB (6 x 2GB) 1333 (PC3 10666) PSU:ABS Majesty series MJ1100-M Continuous 1100W@50
  3. Yeah i figured to go with rpm. lotsa good input. are raptors reall worth the money?
  4. Ok so these are the specs on the computer i'm putting together and i was wondering what wattage im going to need: Mobo:ASUS P6X58D Premium LGA 1366 Intel X58 CPU:Intel i7 920 Heatsink: ZALMAN CNPS9900 NT 120mm GPU:SAPPHIRE Vapor-X Radeon HD 5770 (3x) RAM:G.SKILL PI Series 12GB (6 x 2GB) Network card:Killer Xeno Pro Optical drives: Sony Optiarc (2x) HDD:Seagate Barracuda 1TB 7200 RPM (4x) Case fans:1 x 120mm 2 x 140mm 2 x 230mm Misc:Rosewill 40-in-1 Internal Card Reader I know many computers take a lot less than what people put in them, but this is going to be my first gaming rig and im clueless on what it's going to take
  5. For gaming, internet, and normal every day use what is better to have, more cache or higher RPM on a HDD? If my understanding is correct RPM is used for retrival of information and the cache is for programs you have up. So higher RPM works better for opening docs and programs but cache is better once theyre up and going so better for gaming?
  6. Yeah, but the flashdrives cost more to make so i dont think that will ever happen. i do agree though. i'm making a new rig and was wondering if a blueray was worth it but i suppose by the time it is the standard the drives will drop in price so im not gonna worry about it. and im not too sure about ps3 overclocker16, i havent felt the need to invest in one, but all blueray does sound right
  7. So a while ago Playstation 2 started putting games onto DVDs instead of CDs and now Playstation 3 is putting some games onto BlueRay. I was wondering if anyone here thought that PC game makers would eventually switch to BlueRay discs? Or do you think they'll just stick with mulit-CD or DVD installs? I mean I can't really see it, but people do things like that to make money all the time.

Ok so I'm doing my first build and wanted to get some advice. This is what I've picked out so far: Case - AZZA Solano 1000 SECC MoBo - ASUS P6X58D Premium Video card - (3x) Sapphire Vapor-X Radeon HD 5770 1GB 128-bit GDDR5 Chipset - i7-920 Power Supply - Rosewill Bronze series RBR1000-M RAM - Corsair Dominator 12GB (6 x 2GB) Storage - (3x) Seagate Barracuda 7200 1TB 7200RPM RAID 3 Optical Drive - Lite-On 18x dvd 48x CD Monitor - Samsung 24" Widescreen HDTV OS - Microsoft Wisdows 7 If there's anything you see that's uncompatable or if I'm missing anything input would be appreciated. Also I know watercooling is nice, but with all this I don't think I'm going to overclock, do you think I'll need it anyways?
  10. The computer is being paid for by someone else so i figured I may as well go big. Plus I'm going to tech school for computer programming so I figured a lil extra won't hurt.
  11. I was reading about the ASUS P6X58D Premium. One site said this "comes with support for six DDR3 memory slots, three PCI-Express 2.0 slots, and the Express Gate instant-on OS." So if i wanted to i could put in two sets of CORSAIR DOMINATOR 6GB (3 x 2GB) and three SAPPHIRE Vapor-X Radeon HD 5770 1GB 128-bit GDDR5 PCI Express 2.0? Or is the GDDR5 not compatable? Also I have not clue what the Express Gate OS thing is so if you could fill me in on that it would be cool.

So i'm going to school for computer programming in january and we were going to use my college fund to pay for a new computer for me. we have now decided that we're goign to build it. i'm also a big gamer and want the fastest i can get for the price, my budget is $3,000. pretty much all i know is that i want an intel i7 920. i'm going to want plenty of ram and a fast gpu. shooting for liquid cooling and all that good stuff. i've been doing my research and been finding some good places to buy hardware and was wondering what you guys, and girls, reccomend.

    WoW Price

I've looked on the site, though i cannot extensively because of site blockers at school, and i can't find how much it is for a sub to WoW. I'm sure theres plenty of people on here that play and was wondering if you could just give me a quick response.
