  1. I am going to be building a computer to hook up to my tv/stereo and have heard the 780 chipset doesnt put out the 7.1 audio. I am wanting to integrated if possible with onboard video/audio. Mostly movies about 1/2 blu-ray and 1/2 regular and very very light gaming. I am hoping for AMD for cost efectiveness but could go intel if I have to. Really all I need is a chipset and I can newegg it or a model # would be awseome. Just trying to find my options thank you. EDIT google came up with these chipsets NVIDIA nForce 750a SLI , NVIDIA GeForce 8200, NVIDIA GeForce 8300 So i am looking at this SUS M3N78-VM AM2+/AM2 NVIDIA GeForce 8200 http://www.newegg.com/product/product.aspx...3f1d7ff4967e0a3 and then use the same specs in my sig. Look ok?
  2. Isn't the default multiplier on the 5200 13.5? I have been tweaking mine too and that is what it was defaulted at. I have mine at 232 x 13.5 on stock cooling/voltage 36c at load. Testing her for a while till I take up the FSB more. Should I too be lowering my multi and try to max out the fsb?
  3. ya i meant Starcraft 2 but was thinking diablo 3. So I will stay with this mobo since it doesn't sound like the ram timings are bottlenecking badly. I will hopefully get that video card on tuesday. Furnace broke and cost me $522 to fix part of it waiting to see how much to fix the rest monday . Well thanks sirs.
  4. Current system Asus m3a78-em AM2+/AM2 AMD 780G AMD Athlon 64 X2 5200+ Brisbane 2.7GHz at 3.1GHz (stock cooling/voltage) G.SKILL 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 800 then a 500g sata w/ 16mb cache Cant remember the PSU Onboard video I found on my motherboard it will not let me choose my ram speed. Only the generics 333/400/533 So i cant match it to my cpu. (which might be fine) So my question is should I upgrade my motherboard or do you think the ram speeds are really an issue. I am thinking of getting APPHIRE 100245L Radeon HD 4850 512MB 256-bit GDDR3 PCI Express 2.0 Use starcraft 3 eventually. Half-life 2 mods. Hopefully on my 42" 1080p LCD
  5. I have a HTPC, so it is under my stairs hooked up to my reciever via HDMI. I have a logitech Harmony Remote control with IR blasters (so i do not have to see the devices). So my question is what do I need to be able to use my remote control on my Computer. MUST BE IR. AMD 5200+ Asus MOBO Ubunto OS (might go to vista 64) DVD rom BLUERAY rom 500gig HDD 2x2gig OCZ ram. Edit- NO tv tuner (i have dish with HD,local HD, and OverTheAir HD) Unless you can recomend a good one so I can RECORD my Over the air signal. But I wont be able to add that til next year.
  6. I changed the psu to Antec earthwatts EA500 500W http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16817371007 is that cpu gona be good for a while or keep i keep EVERYTHING else the same (unless its cheaper b4 mail in rebates) to the e8500? and that should just keep me under $600 :/
  7. All i do is surf the interweb, counter-strike 1.6/source and team fortress 2. SO far my cart has (i duno how to do pretty links 1. video VisionTek 900241 Radeon HD 4850 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16814129112 $185 2. ram G.SKILL 4GB (2 x 2GB) DDR2 800 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16820231122 $82 3 mobo GIGABYTE GA-EP35-DS3L http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16813128337 $85 4. cpu Intel Core 2 Duo E7200 Wolfdale 2.53GHz http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16819115052 $120 5. psu Thermaltake TR2 W0070RUC 430W http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16817153023 $41 6. actic silver $5 total $518 plus shipping and before $55 in Mail IN rebates. I will do little overclocking for now (however far i can get on stock voltages) which is why i bought the box cpu w/ stock cooler. I may be iffy on the psu but it is only got to have 1 dvd burner and 1 hard drive. Let me know about the rest. If i must I can spend around $575 but like I said this comp will never be used for much more than what I said above (i've been online gaming for 8 years and those are the only games I have ever liked)
  8. If you have been doing homework you should have been able to add it together
  9. looks like I am going with Crazy_nates setup for now THANKS. I'm going to pick up a psu from the local shop after i figure out how much power i will need look at my sig, that used to be a nice comp (the last time I built one lol)
  10. I need a $500 pc Mobo CPU RAM GRFX card Everything other than a case, psu, monitor and keyboard and mouse need in this budget.
  11. Is there a way to test if my pcmcia slot works on the ol lappy? It is my work laptop and unsure if the slot works but don't want to spend 10% restocking fee if it doesnt work.
  12. Well at work they gave me a laptop to simplify programming stuff. I have a linksys wireless usb adapter and when i plug it in it says it will perform better in a powered usb drive. I tried it on all the usb ports on the computer (only 2) and they both say that. So my question is if i get a powered usb hub will that fix my problem? The adapter works but it is REALLY slow. I would also like to be able to use my Zune, and Motorola Razr on it. So would a hub help that or am i just crap out of luck? Thanks OH its a HP Pavilion ze4500
  13. So i just got the razr v3a from work and just tried to plug it into my lappy to charge it and windows loaded its own drivers i think. So after it didnt work i had my boss buy me Motorola phone tools. I installed, updated and it still doesnt work. Now it says DO NOT PLUG THE PHONE IN BEFORE INSTALLING THE SOFTWARE. I did not know this so now i cant get it work. Is there a way i can find whichever drivers it auto installed and delete them. Or just unstall all usb drivers at once and reinstall the main driver. I dont have anything that really takes special drivers as i let windows set up my mouse, keyboard and all that other stuff. If this should be in the windows forum im sorry but wasnt sure since it is for a cell phone. Windows xp SP2
  14. So i dont need a really fast computer i just need one that will work for a year or two. I am not a big gamer but i would like to run CS:S smoothly and quake 4 and maybe UT3. My girlfriend does scrap booking and junk like that so really as long as it can play todays games i am happy. I AM ON A BUDGET. Tell me what you think and tell me if i am going overkill. I seriously only play video games like 2 hours a week the rest of the time it will be scrap booking and surfing the internet so dont try to kill my buget and tell me if i can go cheaper on some items please. I will get a case at a local store or dig one up from under the stairs. I also have monitor/keyboard/mouse/speakers blah blah blah but i may have forgot something so let me know. I do not know how to add these shortkuts in a shorter form. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16822148212 -Seagate Barracuda 7200.10 ST3160215A 160GB 7200 RPM IDE Ultra ATA100 Hard Drive - OEM http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16814127305 --MSI RX2600XT Diamond Radeon HD 2600XT 256MB 128-bit GDDR4 PCI Express x16 OC Edition HDMI HDCP Ready CrossFire Supported Video Card - Retail http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16820227089 --OCZ Platinum 2GB (2 x 1GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 800 (PC2 6400) Dual Channel Kit Desktop Memory Model OCZ2P8002GK - Retail http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16813128084 --GIGABYTE GA-P35-S3G LGA 775 Intel P35 ATX Intel Motherboard - Retail http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16819115032 --Intel Core 2 Duo E4600 Allendale 2.4GHz LGA 775 65W Dual-Core Processor Model BX80557E4600 - Retail Also i will be getting a heatsink locally so that i can do some minor OCing, the noise really got to bother me when i had all the fans and stuff back in the prime of the athon 2500 Also if you could tell me how to do the links so i could just say like e4600 as a link instead of the long way i did.
