  1. Instability comes from installing a driver over a driver over a remnant of another driver. Nothing but a clean install will clear out the old drivers entirely. good luck!
  2. even if it works its a terrible idea. You will very likely experience driver and stability issues. Any performance-oriented pc user will install a fresh OS with any major hardware change. Non performance-oriented users should do it simply for stability. Whats so special about this particular windows install that makes it worth the risk?
  3. bah, my x2 3800+ (2.7ghz) breaks those temp limits daily. My CPU goes up to 60, and core 2 goes up to 69. (70 is my back-away point). It's been like this 24/7 for a year. I have gamed for 2-3 days straight, no problems. Don't trust the software readouts. The bios temp is the only one I ever really trust. Other than that, as long as it doesnt crash, does it really matter? People tell me my cpu will not last more than 4 years at high temps. Good god if I'm still on S939 by next week - please shoot me, let alone 3 more years, lol If you have some uber-expensive CPU made of gold that you will somehow not upgrade for 10 years then by all means, try to keep it below 50 degrees. If you have a normal, common cpu, then freg man just clock it till it crashes! Prime95 will be your temp readout, when the letters go red, its too damn hot.
  4. I have my X2 3800+ at 2.7ghz as well. 270 x 10, 1.45V ram @ 225mhz (2-3-2-5) ocz platinum, 1T timing HTT @ 1350mhz (stable up to 1500mhz!) idle 40, load 60, under a scynth ninja. on a A8R32-MVP Turn Cool-n-Quiet off. It worked for me up to about 2.6ghz, once I upped the voltage even a bit it started causing crashes. I suggest, if you want to use cool-n-quiet, get a much faster processor that you can live with at stock speeds. C-N-Q is NOT FOR OVERCLOCKERS. I have 2 x HD3870's on this board, but they are not performing to their full extent. I only get 11000 3dm06, even with crossfire working well. The setup is obviously CPU/platform limited, so i will be getting a 790FX board next week. I scored almost the same (9800) with 2 x x1950pro's on this board.
