My first build...lots of trouble...
h4lt replied to h4lt's topic in Processors, Motherboards and Memory
Thanks again for yet another reply, Ok the MOBO is on the cardboard box that it came in... Yes I had just got done installing the video card drivers and tried to install the DFI drivers but it wouldnt work through the CD menu, so I was attempting to install them manually and thats when it flashed a blue screen with an error and then it immediately went blank(but my comp was still running just no visual)... Yep Windows was up and running for about a half hour i believe.... Not sure how to test the RAM individually but when I was in windows it recognized that I had 2 gigs through dxdiag.... Yes as far as I know I am running the RAM at stock speed...I didnt mess with any BIOS settings for it... This site here tells all my troubles before I came to this site (they are the 1ns that sent me here actually:)) http://forum.pcmech.com/showthread.php?t=184043 Yes it is a SATA DVD... Not sure how to check what type of BIOS I have....I am a noob lol Well I guess I am exited about getting everything in my case and having it work....first computer bug I guess:) Any help would be greatly appreciated, h4lt -

Again ty for the reply, Ok I put the MOBO just on the carboard box it came with alone... I believe I was attempting to install the DFI drivers manually because when I would try to install them from the CD's main menu it wouldnt work... Yes Windows was up and running... Not sure how to check RAM individually...remember I am a noob lol Yes as far as I know I am running the RAM at stock speed, because I didnt change anything in the BIOS... Here is where I started getting help before I was directed to this site...http://forum.pcmech.com/showthread.php?t=184043 That should tell you all the previous problems I have had... Yes the DVD is SATA... How do I find what BIOS version I am using? not to sure.... And I wouldnt really say I am in a hurry to get my stuff in my case just anxious to get it workin... -

Hello and thank you for you quick reply, I have placed my Vid Card in my Sig, sorry I kinda forgot to list that got it from Buy.com Newegg was out of stock... But anyways I have tried something similar to the minimum build, where I took everything out of the case and placed my motherboard on the foam it came with and just hooked up all the essentials... And thats the way I originally got past my first error...so I placed everything back in my case and started it back up and everything was workin ok until I was installing drivers and I got a blue screen with some sort of error and then my screen went blank my computer didnt shut off though and my fans were still running... So I took everything out of the case yet again and hooked up just the essentials and still was unable to get any visuals on my screen...so I cleared the CMOS and it allowed me to get to the BIOS but once I tried to start up Windows my screen would just go black yet again.... And I am about at the that point of taking it to a computer store and having them take a look at it....because this is getting quite frustrating... Any help would be greatly appreciated, h4lt -

Well I am not gunna go through every error I have gotten in the process of putting my computer together...cause it is endless, but after going through alot of troubles I finally got Windows installed... When I was installing the drivers I got a blue screen for a split second and my then my computer just shut off... And now I am unable to turn it back on....I am getting a debug code of 88 and sometimes it looks like it says A8 or 8A not sure...
