  1. It's OK if the drive is ATA133, most early SATA HDDs are IDE drives with a SATA converter. If the HDD isn't detected, make sure the IDE channel 2 and 3 are set to Auto in the CMOS config BIOS page. Now XP should detect the controllers easily, it's just two Silicon Image SiI 3112A SATA controllers stuffed in the ATI SB450 southbridge. (It's not a ULi chipset) Maybe DFI would need to update the 3112A BIOS, since they're not using the latest version, and there are some problems with some HDDs in the older versions. You will need to use the supplied floppy, XP can't detect SATA controllers. If you think you still want to keep it finally, delete all the partitions on the HDD with an other system if possible, maybe the XP install crashes when it reads the partitions table. Have you tried reading the HDD with Knoppix?
  2. I might sell mine, the problem is that I'll have to find an home for my X2 4400.
  3. I have an RS482 and the reboot problem as well. Onboard audio doesn't work in both Windows and Linux, and it's very hard to install Linux w/o crashing(Just locks w/o rebooting, tried 3 optical drives, 2 HDDs, different RAM. The motherboard is MUCH more stable when running F@H (CPU use @ 100%) What's the big thing with ATI 4xx chips and dual-rails? I run an MSI RD480 w/o any reboots off a dual-rail PSU. Now, the thing with Linux, I see in one of the logs a lot of lines similar to these: CPU0 IOAPIC Error(00) CPU0 IOAPIC Error(40) Does it mean both the CPU and mobo are working bad? About onboard audio : Detected under Linux, get error message on boot, can't init. /dev/dsp. Under Windows, drivers work, if I select the Realtek Codec as a device, it will start playing, but it will not detect what I plug in the front and rear panel and there's no sound at all. I just upgraded to the latest BIOS and now "Radeon Xpress 1150 Secondary" device under Windows appears as disabled because the system can't find enough resources. All I have is the Audigy 2 ZS, USB and onboard ethernet enabled. I have the secondary IDE and SATA controllers disabled. What's wrong with that motherboard, am I unlunky and got the one with everything working bad? I don't know what to replace it with, there isn't any other mATX mobo that supported dual screens when I got it.
