  1. Well, since I've had the mobo, I have used a wireless PCI network card so I've had no need to use my onboard LAN adapter. When I first put the computer together, I noticed that the onboard NIC didn't show up in device manager nor is there an icon for it in "network connections" so I figured it was just disabled in the bios and didn't think twice about it. I have the 1394 network adapter (thats not it, is it?) and my wireless adapter's connection in "network connections". Is it possible for the onboard NIC to be automatically disabled because the wireless card is in there? Now, I've searched and searched the bios and I'm unable to find any setting relating to the onboard network adapter. Is it possible for the bios not to sense the on board LAN adapter if that component is defective? I will be RMAing the board following the advice of this thread: http://www.dfi-street.com/forum/showthread.php?t=63863 If I don't get the NIC to work, I will feel better about RMAing the board as it will be more justified than RMAing the board for the dual channel problem alone since I am still unsure on the source of that issue.... Thanks for any help guys.
  2. thanks dragosmp, I did your first test and ran the mem one at a time through each mem slot. My results: when there is a module in slots 2 or 4 there is a boot failure i.e. no video and one long repeating beep. Unfortunately, I dont have a second CPU to test with. Can anything be determined with that alone? I may have to buy a cheap Sempron for $40 and resell it once I'm done. Note the updated sig.
  3. O.K. I'm resurrecting my old thread because I still have not resolved my problem. I have now tried two different sets of RAM . http://www.newegg.com/product/product.asp?...N82E16820145034 They both gave the same results. How can I find out what my problem is without buying a new CPU or MoBo? What is my next step in trouble shooting?
  4. The mem. will run single channel in slots 1 & 3. The manual also says that you can run single channel with DIMMs in slots 2 & 4 but mine won't boot. If I try dual channel (slots 1&2 or 3&4), there is no boot. That means, anytime there is a chip in slot 2 or 4, there is no boot.
  5. ok, well I tried increasing voltage, decreasing/increasing latancies, and tried the mem at different speeds. Still no luck. One thing though, the memory will boot O.K. with the DIMMs in slots 1 & 3, but fails to boot when the dimms are in slots 2 & 4. This leads me to believe that the motherboard might be at fault. Would this be possible or should I not assume that?
  6. ok, Ive updated the biosn to date code 2006/07/11 or 8UM2D711. I tried them on different channels with no luck. I tried them in all combinations I could think of, seating and reseating, all with no luck. I will RMA this memory if I cant get it to work soon. Anyone else have any ideas? Thanks for any help guys.
  7. No, I've never really done that. I guess its time to learn. I'll try it.
  8. Hi I built my system about 3 weeks ago, and everything has been running great--very stable. I had no blue screens and I had no problems at all with the build. The only thing is that I can't get my memory to run in dual channel. This is the memory I have: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?...N82E16820220094 Right now I have both DIMMs on channel A (slots 1 and 3) and it runs great like that. Everytime I try to put them on different channels, the computer gives me two long beeps with no video. I ran memtest w/ single channel without errors a couple times. Is there a bios setting I need to change? I upgraded from a pentiumIII so I dont have any experience with dual channel. Someone please help me. Thanks
  9. First Post -- Hello! Hey MC, Thumbs are great. Are you using this patriot memory or something very similar? http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?...N82E16820220094 I have that RAM, the UltraII-M2, and an AM2 3800+ X2 on the way and should be here tomorrow (the 23rd). I just wanted to know if there were any issues or anything I would have to do to get that RAM to work in the UltraII-M2. As you can see from my sig, its been years since my last core upgrade, and I hope my first experience with DFI goes off without a hitch. I plan to transfer the HDD and GPU (until I can get new ones in a couple weeks). I will also use my current power supply. Thanks for any assistance guys.
