  1. Hey guys, I was working on my brother-in-law's laptop (format/reinstall) and during my search for drivers, the Toshiba website had a specialty notice that advise to update the bios due to battery charging issues (which he had) BIOS update for Satellite A100/A105, Satellite M110/M115, and Tecra A7 Posted on: 04/10/2007 Updated on: 04/10/2007 15:51:53 In very rare cases, the battery pack of your PC may stop accepting a charge, i.e., the battery stops working and no longer supplies power to the computer. To minimize the risk of ever experiencing this problem, we strongly recommend that you download and install the latest BIOS by clicking the 'Downloads' link that will appear when you are finished reading Support News. He never updated the bios so I figured I'd go ahead and do it. Anyways, burnt the bios update to a cd, updated the bios, seemed smooth like all my other bios updates I've done in the past, rebooted the laptop, and it doesn't post. Power does comes on, however of course I have no video and no post beeps. I do hear a repetitive sound through the speakers like they're trying to initialize, however it just repeats over and over. Tried with and without the batter. With and without the power cord, performed a full power discharge as well, same issue. Removed memory and still will not give post error codes. Basically, the bios is hosed. Laptop is out of warranty since it was purchased over a year ago. I can't find a tear down / service manual on the toshiba website either. Does this laptop have a replaceable bios/cmos chip? I've called Toshiba already and they're stone walling me due to the warranty issue however I think I have a good case since the website recommended I update the laptop bios. Brand: Toshiba Model: M115-S3094 I remember someone on the DFI forums (Think Tmod) who used to flash bios chips for people who bombed out their DFI bios. Anyone know someone that could help me? Please
  2. Good call, sorry about that though. lol, I listened to you all. I saved my $70 and put it towards an extended life battery for $49
  3. Too bad you didn't read the thread. I said I was buying a LAPTOP! not a desktop. but I get everyones point. Thanks for the info folks. Saved myself $70
  4. Worth the upgrade from 120GB HD to 160GB? I'm buying a dell laptop directly from dell. Offering a upgrade from a 120GB HD to 160 for $70. Should I take the upgrade, or save the money for something else? I'll be basically using this laptop as my dj / music production laptop. Won't be gaming with it too much. (maybe a lil) thanks
  5. hehe, had to ask. Newegg has it sold out at the min. but i think thats THE board I'll use.
  6. hehe, any chance you'd sell your DQ6 in a couple months
  7. Thanks for the recommendation guys. I'll look into the 680i / 680 LT boards now. Also, I don't mind spending less on the ram, but I'd hate to get non-HZ memory. While with the OCZ set, I don't really have to worry about getting it up to 1033, its already there.
  8. I'm looking into upgrading... and well like many others, I'm having decision problems. (with buying a mobo) I want to upgrade to a C2D system. (Overall just better bang for your buck and DDR2 prices are just dropping off the planet) I'll be keeping my psu, harddrives, and video card in my sig. I'll wanna pick up a E6600 and 2GB of Ram. (Already pretty much know which ram I wanna pick up - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16820227159 This might even be overkill for the ram, but I want this system to last me another 3-4 years minus a harddrive upgrade or ram add on.) but like many others I having a tough time choosing which mobo to pick up. I have DFI now, but just hasn't been the same since I switched from Abit. I'm thinking about switching back to abit, but the only board that has what I want seems to be the QuadGT, but seems to have major mobo bios issues. Anyways, let me explain what I'll be using my system for and go from there. I'll be using my system for... amature music production in Reason / Cubase. business purposes. I own a online (non-profitable) web store. lol, i know I need to change it to profitable someday. Quick books, stamps.com software ebay etc etc. and of course gaming. I've been big into BF2 and Supcom as of late, and probably will get back into UT2007 when its released. I have several usb devices. Trackball, Flash Card Reader, USB external harddrive, Midi Keyboard, Scanner, Digital Camera, and MP3 player, so I'd like to have atleast 6 USB ports as well. I DON'T NEED SLI / CROSSFIRE. Don't see a need for it at the moment, even if I did, I'd upgrade to a 8800 GTS. I'd like to have atleast 6 SATA II ports. (I plan to also continue running RAID 0 on my boot array) I'd like a mobo that has decent OC'ing cabilities. Nothing crazy, but I'd like to get the most out the ram I have picked out above. I require to have a stable mobo if its OCd or left at stock. Nothing is worse than crashing in a ranked game and taking a loss due to an unstable mobo. IDE ports aren't important at all either. I can use all sata if need be. Prefer ATX form factor since I can easily pick up a case for it. (Prolly will swap out my current case sense I feel a bit cramped in it. ) Any suggestions will be appreciated.
  9. Bump, added another hard drive. Feel free to make fair offers of course.
  10. Ahh, ok Thanks guys! I suspect my last case mod should fix my issue, but its nice to know where that stuff is at!
  11. Right now I'm running core temp & smart gaurdian. Core temp for my Opty 165 and smart guardian for my chipset and PWM temps. However, my PWM temperature keeps hitting 51+ degrees, which shows up in read in SG. What is the PWM sensor and where is it located on my motherboard? I'm looking into cooling my system better and want to make sure I get all the areas covered. Thank you in advance!
