  1. What great news, I am really glad DFI finally took the necessary step, a bios upgrade, to fix this, we have been pushing for that for months, better late from never, enjoy the great board. I am still waiting on my conroe, for my asus board (nice board, but I miss the DFI settings...) Maybe DFI will come with a must have board for my next upgrade cycle when vista rolls, and DX10 cards are out. Great News for all of you, and way to stick to it, and fight for a solution.
  2. This just sucks guys, the guy I am selling my system to, minus the raptors and x1900 is going to be using a 320gB WD driver as primary boot, hope he is able to use the uli effectively, will give him a copy of the beta drivers so he can boot with that, he also going to be dual booting to linux. Speaking of linux, didn't someone boot to linux on the ULi and have this issue, gee one would think that would make it apparent that it was not a windows based driver issue. This is why I sold the board, DFI has refused to accept the fact it is on their end,a nd does not want to fix it, they want to blame the chipset, not the bios/board Good luck guys, will let you know if my friend has better luck than I did...
  3. I would like to thank everyone at DFI-Street, Angry_Games, Raju, chkdsk, and everyone else. I have put my board up for sale, the lure of conroe has sucked me in, I have chosen to go with another manufacturer of mobo this time around, as the reviews for DFI's infinity board are less than stellar. Thanks to everyone, may drop in from time to time to see what's new. Thanks again everyone
  4. Thank you for your response Happy_Games, and yes you have been brutally honest, my post was in no way a slam on DFI-Street, as i have mentioned before, this is a great site, that has nothing but great users, who worked very hard on their end to resolve the issue on their own, without support from DFI. My rant was intended soley at DFI, as this seems to be the only forum that DFI even slightly looks at. As I mentioned in my post, I have had great success with the cfx3200-dr and it is by far the best overclocking board I have ever owned, and I am very satisfied with it, OTHER than the ULI problem. I just was hoping for something from them in the last few months, as you say they (DFI) has just seemed to have dropped the ball on BIOS update's the lifes blood of a motherboard. Thanks for all your responses, everyone, feel free to post your gripes here as well, and email, as this seems to be our only method of communication with DFI at this time regarding this issue. Thanks again Happy_Games, for a great site, and the great support
  5. Yeah pretty much sums it up, would like DFI to do something, maybe even make the beta bios, a "stable" release, so if the board does go hanky, I can at least RMA it without voiding my warranty. Really, I just want to see some activity from them on this board, in some sense, so I have at least the illusion that they give a . about it, even if they have dropped it all together in favor of conroe, and AM2, which is my suspicion
  6. I have been having the issue with the ULI chipset and my raptor drives since day 1, I bought this board 3 weeks after retail date, so early, could expect a few bugs. However it is now 7/18/06 about 2 months since last beta bios? No updates from DFI at all, except ULI is working on it, some sort of driver? When Asus seems to have had the same problem regarding this chip, and resolved it with a bios update. This is my first DFI board, will this be my last? Is this the way they treat all their motherboards, do they ship them, then forget about them? Original bios is the only one you can use without voiding your warranty, and that one does not work, this is just sad. Of course I am using the beta, bios, because it works, in all cases except the ULI chipset and raptor drives. I do not think I will RMA the board, as new one will have the same problem, as we have seen, it is a bios fix that is needed. Just pissed off that DFI got $220 of my hard earned dollars for a board, about as much as you can pay for a single processor board, and they have completely abandoned the damn thing, no support whatsoever, for what seems to be a common problem. Rant over
  7. That is sad news, as that seems as though DFI is laying it off on ULI and not looking into it themselves, through a possible bios bug, sad news indeed, this is by far the best mobo I have ever owned, and this is the ONLY complaint I have about the board, I can live with the SiL Chipset, but would prefer the ULI, so not a deal breaker, just annoying.
  8. the pauses are a paging error, an error writing to the page file in windows, so in xp64, the paging structure is different, so seemed to remove those errors, but does nothing about the controller itself.
  9. check this thread, and check your system log, to see if this is what is happening to you, by your sig, might just be, though the hitachi's do not seem to be the big problem, it is the raptor, and other WD drives http://www.dfi-street.com/forum/showthread.php?t=53169 also may try enabling the boot rom for the second lan in the bios
  10. I have been on the sil for 3 weeks, just gave up ont he uli, performace is noticably hindered, but not as bad as the pauses and errors I have not tried chkdsk new method, kinda tired of reinstalling, if mor epeople can verify this result, will give it a go. Congrats chkdsk, and way to go, great work on this, you have really pushed hard to find a solution and I appreciate it. EDIT: the more I think about this, the more tempted I am am to try it out, lol, got burned every other time though... have to work 7 of next 8 days, so maybe wait it out, and see if there are anymore success stories
  11. theonlybabyface: what drives are you using, as this seems pretty specific to western digital drives, primarily the raptors bmorgan, glad you found a fix, wish i had the same luck, back on the sil chip as I have had just about enough of the uli The uli is working fine with no errors with one maxtor 250gB drive hooked to it
  12. great work morgan, I did not even think of making the driver disk with the ver2.2 drivers, doh! Guess a clean wipe is in my future if you have success again with the raid setup My ram is in the orange only, may have to try your trick with the slots as well thx for being a guinea pig, I do appreciate it
  13. my raptor drives have that option greyed out, so am unable to try that fix
  14. I just went ot 64 bit version of windows, error is still there, but no more disk errors anymore, just the m5288 error itself, without the follow up disk error assume that has something to do with the paging structure of xp64
