  1. Thanks for your assitance thus far and for everyone else who has chimed in. I am about ready to give up anyway I have read in multiple places that this bored doesn't like 4gbs not to mention that I don't have x64 vista and the problems I am having. I have been using the search function but I haven't found what I am looking for, I am not quite sure how to search for "make my memory work" lol. I have adjusted the voltage to 2.7 and that didn't help, I am just pretty surprised how this stuff just BSOD's windows out of the box.
  2. I'm getting the BSOD's with the 2 new sticks in by themselves, any answer to that one?
  3. Well this certinally isn't good news. What is the exact reason I am getting BSODs from the memory is it more of a software issue then hardware? I am not too familiar with how to mess with memory timings so I would need a bit further instruction. I am a web designer which on average I have photoshop plus about 40 firefox windows open and a few other things it really eats my 2gb up. Perhaps I OC'd wrong (by instruction of a friend) and that could be causing my poor memory issues performance issues, although I really think its firefox and photoshop taking up nearly a gig each. Attached is info from cpuz
  4. Where do you set that? Also is that the exact name? I am using the comp in which I am making these changes to so its difficult to go back and forth. Here is the latest. I found some info on the boards that suggested I disable CPC so I did so and after putting all 4 sticks in and using nothing more then optimized defaults it booted into windows but soon after BSOD'd. I then took out the existing memory and put in the new memory to try them in a pair alone they worked in the yellow channel and booted to windows but BSOD'd. So i put them in the orange channel and the computer didn't post. I was told from a friend I shouldn't have a problem mixing and matching memory but now i want to punch him in the face as I have read here that its difficult to get different memory timings to work properly so I may just buy another dual channel kit and match up the brand new memory with another set of brand new memory if i can't get this to work. You can do that right, buy 2 dual channel kits? Anyway now that you have alittle more info hopefully someone can diag this for me, thanks.
  5. Another memory purchase down the tubs. Please someone give me some help here on what to get. You can see above what memory I have, I just purchased G.SKILL 2GB (2 x 1GB) 184-Pin DDR SDRAM DDR 400 (PC 3200) Dual Channel Kit Desktop Memory Model F1-3200PHU2-2GBNS - from new egg in hopes that it would work with my system and alas it doesn't WTF? I couldn't get it to work with existing memory so I took the existing memory out and put this in both slots and it didn't work it would load then get a BSOD before it hit windows saying it would need to shut windows down. What am I either doing wrong, need to change or need to buy to get this to work with 4gb and my existing memory?????
  6. ah, you cleared it up for me, sorry I didn't quite get that, thank you very much for your help
  7. maybe I am confused or I wasn't specific enough, in any event that didn't really answer why its not working. Do I need 2 sticks of memory to fill up all of the slots? As I said the 2 skill are in the same colored slots then I add another 1 stick and the computer doesn't post...
  8. I have a Lanparty NF4 Ultra D with 2 sticks of G.skill. Here are the specs: G.SKILL 2GB (2 x 1GB) 184-Pin DDR SDRAM DDR 500 (PC 4000) Dual Channel Kit Desktop Memory Model F1-4000USU2-2GBHZ - Retail Item #: N82E16820231021 They are in slots 2 and 4 (orange) I wanted to get a a single GB stick to have 3 gb and when I put it in with the others the comp won't post. I am not sure of my bios but I did read on newegg's user comments someone said the lanparty cannot handle more then 2gbs of ddr400 is that correct? Anyway here is the specs on the latest stick that I bought. I also tested the stick by itself without the 2 gskills in and it worked fine. I tested multiple configurations btw with the gskills in to no avail. CORSAIR ValueSelect 1GB 184-Pin DDR SDRAM DDR 400 (PC 3200) Desktop Memory Model VS1GB400C3 - Retail
  9. hey, thanks for the response. I am a graphic designer and use very memory intensive software. For instance i may have adobe after effects, photoshop, four or five firefox windows, IE windows, flash, dreamweaver and a few other things. As of now it hasn't been a problem but i am beginning to edit video so my preview playback is a bit slow in adobe premiere. I am wondering if this is just my video card or memory. During my video editing i don't have tons of crap open, i have bitdefender in the background and a few things on the systray that don't really run in the bg and no other programs open. It isn't horribly slow but say i add an effect using magic bullet suite or something it takes ALOT longer to render the video. Does the DFI lanparty nF4 ultra-d have the ability for an SLI setup, i think i read that it does? I suppose i could just OC my system and the memory (if i knew how haha) in order to save myself on the memory. It is also to my understanding that my mobo can handle up to 4gb of ram, i appreciate any further help. Thank you.
  10. sig updated - i did some research and found (correct me if i'm wrong) that although the nF4 only supports up to DDR400 you can put DDR500 and above if you intend to overclock the CPU otherwise my DDR500 PC4000 2x1gb memory is currently running at a lower speed then it should be. (being that i have not overclocked)

  12. Hey i had a question regarding my lanparty nf4 ultra-d MOBO. I have 2x1gb g.skill extreme series memory its DDR500(pc 4000). Now i got this from newegg a while ago and wished to add 2 more gigs so i went back and unfortunately they no longer carry it. So in my travels i looked at my mobo specs and it says it only supports up to DDR400 so how the hell does my board use the DDR500 memory then? Am i missing something or was the DDR500 just a waste of money? Does the mobo just lower the frequency or something or can it actually handle the DDR500? Anyway i am trying to find something comperable to what i have (g.skill memory) so if someone could possibly shed some light on this for me that would be great. Thanks.
