1. Spirit..were you able to use the bottom pcie slot to get around the problem of the sata ports? By top 2, do you mean all 4, or jsut the actual top 2? Meaning, does it block 3-4 but leave 1-2 open? Or 1-4?
2. I was thinking of that too last night. I wonder if setting an affinity for the software would help?
3. logitech mx518 corded. I dont "think" it was doing it when I first built this rig, but not positive. But its becoming more and more frequent. Ive tried updating the software, turning on "usb mouse" in bios, and changing the usb hubs power setup to never turn off. It seems to be random, and just did it again as I clicked on these forums. Has anyone had any issues like this before and what was the resolution? I put it here in the OC forums due to the fact that I didnt think it did it on first build and I never had any issues on my Intel. edit: just did it again as I clicked off this post. Happening a lot now and cant find any common denominator or software reason...
4. I just noticed all the Optys are listed as Toledo cores. Thats the way they show up in cpu-z, but theyre actually denmarks correct?
5. you were right. Trfc at 16 works great now, and gave a little bump to all benches except 06 which dropped a few. OCDB updated.
6. yup. Youre leaving your DRAM frequency set to 1/1. That means its going to maintain a 1:1 ratio with your FSB Bus Frequency. Its already set to 255, and your ram is rated for 250. Putting it on a divider ( IE changing your Dram Freq to 5/6 for example) will lower that. All the details of this are explained in the Overclockers Guide they gave you links to above.

8. Ill give it a shot now. Obviously, that didnt work so well with the other settings. Question: Im putting my stuff together for the OCDB, can/should I make diff posts for the diff speeds? It may seem redundant, but as this huge thread shows, there are MANY differences for those speeds and they may help somone later. Im thinking one for 2.6, 2.7, and ( hopefully) for 2.8-assuming 2.8 will also require some changes. If 2.8 is about the same, I may jsut update the 2.7 instead. The OCDB for 2.7 ( forgot to screenshot 3dm03 lol..will do later) http://www.dfi-street.com/forum/showpost.p...3&postcount=255
9. It makes perfect sense. This is what I thought the issue to be actually. Thats the reason I went to OCZ forums. I was hoping they had run into this before being 'memory' guys and could help me find that sweet spot. That part didnt go as Id hoped. BTW... I FOUND IT!!!!!!! It WAS the Trp! Ill post all the screenies and stuff soon. But for the moment: 2.7 Ghz. Same exact bios as the post 3 above this except Trp at 5. I stopped it at 14.5 hours both cores priming at temps of 43/42/35 My goal still remains at 2.8, and perhaps this wont even help at all for that goal, but for over 2 weeks Ive been trying to get from 2.6 to 2.7 and Ive been running/failing primes non -stop and I got it! I KNEW it was just a matter of the right settings.
10. no more help coming from OCZ so still searching on my own. I read someones post (somewhere - OCZ or here) about Trp being an issue with their OCZ platinum ram ( I think it was plat anyway). Figured what the hell..give it a shot. Running with same bios as one post up, with Trp at 5 rather than 3 ( "official" number) or 4 ( previously working number). little over 3.5 hours both cores atm will update ( if anyones still reading this )
11. Im also looking for users/owners of 7950 gx2 and UTNF4-sli-dr combo for compatablilities
12. Improvement: 2.7Ghz at 8.5 hours core1, 5 hours core 0. these bios settings ( sooo close)
13. I understand what youre saying, but raising vcore isnt the ultimate cure. If your ram settings are wrong and unstable, blowing the vcore out the roof might help a little with stablility, but youd be using a sledgehammer to straighten a wall tack. I dont know your settings of course, but maybe something else is out of wack, and you could be stable at say 1.4vcore if the other issue was handled first?
14. Thnaks cuoficr. Changed bios no probs at all. Still stuck though.. OCZ ryder says it sounds like the cpu even though I pointed out I can only get anywhere using the "wrong" settings for my ram. Just to double check, I ran 2.953Ghz at 1.55 vcore. 1/2 divider all ram auto First boot failed, but splash screen showed ram at 2-2-5-2. I loosened it to 3-4-8-4-12-24 ( still on a 1/2) and then superPI 1m'd good both cores. Does this still sound like the cpu is maxxing at 2.7 to you guys? I dont think so, but I certainly dont have the experience to be sure I know what Im talking about. Edit: recent update: since changing to tonys bios, I now fail 2.7 within 45 minutes ( twice) with the same settings that got me 2-4 hours before. Well, I believe weak 4 is the same as the old 7 for Dram drive strength correct?
15. same chip and heatsink I have. I hate to say it, but I got this in response to about 5 different questions I asked, and for 4 of them it was probably the right answer: Read the Overclocking guide, then read it again Particularly in this case on how to find first your CPU max, then your ram max. Heres the linky: http://www.dfi-street.com/forum/showthread...3179#post203179 Also, you'll find valuable info if you just go to the OC database and do a forum search for your ram type, or you chip type, etc. Im still pretty new at this, but with that stepping chip at that low speed, 1.55 vcore sounds crazy high ( I believe thats the max safe limit for air cooling), and thats where your high heat is coming from.
