My PC died a couple of days ago (see sig for specs). The monitor cut itself off in mid-operation and has not been back on since. After rebooting, it won't post. With one stick in the outer-most orange slot, I'm getting 1 LED and 1 long beep on bootup. I've tried the other stick in that slot as well as completely swapping out the RAM and video card, and clearing the CMOS, but I'm not having any luck. And yes, I've swapped the monitor too. Haha. Any ideas? Thanks a lot.

Brandon_34: Stock timings are 3-3-3-7. The 166 divider doesn't seem any better than the 180. It is, in fact, value ram. I hadn't planned on any problems getting the divider to work, so I assumed I'd just be able to use one without any major problems. Unfortunately, due to things beyond my control, it will be quite a while before I can afford to drop $150+ on better RAM. gokalper: *edit*Almost all*edit* ram settings were manually set, and I even tried them all at the loosest that they would get to. At 1:1 336 x 10, it passes SuperPi 32m (yes, in Windows), OCCT, and at least 10 hours of the Prime95 blend test. I've tried both LDT 3.0 and 4.0 (although, at 250, that's 250 * 4 * 2 = 2000, which is what it should be for socket 939?) One of the few things that I haven't messed with is the drive strength, so I'll give that a try. I have to set the divider ridiculously low (ie like 120) to get it to finish any of the 3dMarks. I'm about to get to bed, so I'll try the changing the drive strength and I'll run Prime95 overnight. I'll test out 3dMark with them tomorrow evening and I'll post all of my settings then. Thanks for your reply, Kandoo. I haven't been able to find my RAM in the 939 database, but I've tried loosening the timings. I haven't had much success though. The timings were 3-3-3-7 before I started, and I spent about 3 hours slowly loosening them (including the lanparty specific ones) without a successful run through. Eventually, I just set everything as loose as it would go. I actually got through the majority of 03 (the only one I tried) that time, but I crashed on the first CPU test (usually I crash on game test 1 or 2). I suppose that 1:1 isn't going to kill me, but I'd just like to try to squeeze out that extra 150mhz I'm currently losing on the CPU. Thanks again.

I've been following big OC guide in this forum, and I've run into a bit of a snare. My RAM has a stable OC of 236mhz. My CPU's stable OC is 2500mhz (250 x 10). Both run SuperPi 32m, OCCT, Prime and all of the 3DMarks just fine. However, I can't seem to get the CPU and RAM OC's to work together properly. With a 1:1 ratio, running at 236x10, everything seems fine (now, after upping my chipset and LDT voltages.) However, no matter what I do, I can't get the thing running anywhere near 250 x10 with a 9:10 divider. Setting the CPU multiplier lower doesn't help at all. I either have to set the FSB much lower, or set the divider much lower to get it to pass 3DMark 03 and 2001SE, and I haven't even bothered to try 05 or 06 on it yet. Now, this setting should run my ram at 227mhz, right? It's odd that suddenly it seems to cause stability problems when that's lower than the 236 that I can run it at without a divider. What keeps happening is some 3DMark test or other will lock-up. 2001SE will die immediately, but 03 will go to the next test. Either way, I get a nice little pop-up from ATI saying that my video card stopped responding, so it (ATI) reset it to stock (which I have yet to change it from.) I haven't tried Prime95, SuperPi or OCCT yet as I don't much see the point if the OC is going to die while gaming. The only way that I've gotten it to work with a divider is by setting the divider EXTREMELY low, like 120 or less, or by reducing the LTD to 225 or less. I've tried upping the voltage on the chipset and LDT, and I've even tried mucking with the PCI-E Frequency, but nothing has done any good. I suppose that my next step might be to loosen my RAM timings, but I don't know why they suddenly would be causing a problem when they weren't before setting the RAM divider. This is my first build, and my first OC. I want to thank all of you for making these forums such a great resource, or I'd have had a much harder time even getting to the point where I am now. Thanks also for any help that you can offer.

Thanks Blooz1. After finding out from Angry_Games that it can run SLI, I'm definately going with that one. The OCZ is nice and shiny and all, but my wallet just can't take the beating.

I'm hoping to be SLI capable just in case I decide to go that route later, I'd rather not have to buy a $100+ PSU at that time after buying one now. If anyone can clear up whether or not the 570w can handle SLI for sure, I'd really appreciate it.

Please check my sig for my build. I'm on an extremely tight budget here. I do plan to do some overclocking, but it's mostly just to get the most out of my hardware. With that in mind, I picked what I thought were good, but cheap, options on two things: my PSU and ram. I wish that I had found this forum before I ordered all my parts and such. Now I am afraid that I may have gotten myself into trouble. This is my first build, and I thought that I had done a ton of research, but I missed a few things. Firstly, I didn't realize that there was much more to a PSU that it's wattage. Unfortunately, I've seen on this board that my PSU is way below standard for the +18v rail with only 18 amps. I haven't been able to do much testing as of now because I'm waiting on my RAM to come in the mail. My first question is, should I wait and see if my PSU is causing problems, or should I just exchange it now? (I bought it from Newegg for $30) Keep in mind that I am on an extremely tight budget, and shipping and possible restocking fees hurt. My second question is just a more general, should I have done anything much different with this build? One thing that I see now that I didn't realize before is that I could have eventually modded to SLI, so I got an X800 GT02 which I plan on possibly flashing and OCing as best I can. I may eventually sell it and mod to SLI, but obviously I'd need two new video cards, a new PSU and probably better RAM. Please let me know if there is anything else that you see that could have been better. Thanks for taking the time to read this and respond. I certainly appreciate it.
