  1. i thought there may be a required pcie setting i have missed or something similar. returning the card tomorrow but as i have not tested the 'faulty' card in another system i dont want to be charged the $90 per hour www.nintek.com.au charge for testing a return that ends up not being faulty - ie a bios setting etc anyways card is poo i have moved the ram into my old xp1700 and it is now flying along - but i will have to wait till the 7800 is replaced/fixed and returns to enjoy my new build in its full glory thanks 4 all the help this forum is by far the most informative for any product i have ever purchased :shake:
  2. i dont want oc 7800 gt settings just standrad settings to get it up and running i have also done all u have mentioned - but no luck the card is oc from the factory xfx 7800 gt oc - i have tried everthing i can think of

  4. hi guys can u help me out i need some bios settings from dfi sli-dr owners who have a working 7800gt. see my post for reasons why: http://www.dfi-street.com/forum/showthread.php?t=40963 please help me out in need to make sure the card is busted - so i need working setups to compare at the moment i have RGone's bios setup: http://www.dfi-street.com/forum/showthread.php?t=5844 with the ram cas latencey set for my ram i have no errors in memory test just 1 hell of a bad display (see pics in post: http://www.dfi-street.com/forum/showthread.php?t=40963) help me out my dfi brothers!!
  5. forgot to mention that i eventually got windows xp installed screen was messed up the entire way - but i used the force to carry out the install (check pics) i thought if i made it into windows - by installing the mobo, graphic and monitor drivers i might beable to clear up the display - i was so wrong display is 100 times worse - check pics for a laugh i love builds they provide weeks of fun or is that insanity :shake:
  6. ok i tried my mates ati card (x800) in my system worked perfectly - no display errors in bios or windows. so i have put my problems down to my graphics card (xfx 7800 gt oc) having faulty memory. just to make sure can some1 with a 7800 gt running in single VGA mode on a DFI LanParty nF4 SLi-DR post their exact bios settings - please!!!!!! i was unable to put my card into my mates system to check if i got the same errors on his system with my card. (it is a shuttle and was too small - card is massive) so before i send the card back i just need to make sure i have the correct settings for my card. comeon help me out by posting your bios settings if you are running: a 7800 gt in single VGA mode on a DFI LanParty nF4 SLi-DR - please!!!!!!
  7. i tryed the new pc plugged into my tv - which is a large lcd tv - and has a dvi input the image got slightly better - the black squares dispeared however the text was still jumbled and chracters were incorrect - eg the letter O is replaced with a strange symbol etc - see pic below: with_LCD DVI.jpeg this is a great improvement over the CRT monitor using a DVI adaptor - see pic below: with CRT and DVI adaptor.jpeg i also tryed a different adaptor and different DVI leads etc same results with both monitors. is this usual of artifacting? characters being jumpled and replaced??
  8. ok i changed the ram cas settings to: 2-3-5-2 memory test is now running error free. also both sticks worked fine in my xp1700 system. well after a process of elimination i can pretty much say its the xfx 7800 gt brand new piece of . video card i have paid a heap of cash$$ for. i was never happy with this card from the day i opened it (last week :<) and discovered it has a 4 pin molex power input - WTF! where is the sli 6pin power input - which is why i paid for an sli psu in the first place. ill try and test the card somewhere and find out for sure !! any1 in sydney got a pci-e system i could use for 5mins??? :shake: - thanks every1 for the help -
  9. i tried both sticks in dfi - but still no good ill try 1 in my old gigabyte xp1700 - c how it goes "I've had a simular screen with black "dots" when my memory was accidentaly running above spec" not sure what you mean here ?? what is the bios setting - sorry its hard to see the screen - with all the jumbled characters and dots "you might want to try to run the memory at cas 2 instead of 2.5 (sometimes cas 2.5 doesn't work for me either, this seems to be cpu/motherboard related) again sorry what is cas??? do mean the ram voltage?? ie running decreased voltage? also my windows install - got as far as loading windows - aftr the initial driver package install and then just sat there for ever. fcuk me this sux
  10. ok i have triple checked everything and also installed a 80gb ide drive - for the os (if i ever get that far) the display is still all distorted and has black squares (see pic below) but the power offs have stopped i am running memory test as i type - and it has come up with some errors thus far - not that i can read it correctly - due to the funky display my plan is to get windows installed and install the monitor and graphics card drivers and see if the display improves. any better ordifferent ideas would be greatly appreciated. also where did angry_games post that had the bios screenshots go??? i need this back up - please!!!
  11. ill try the above when i get home any other ideas - i have previously checked all power cables and reseated video card but ill give it another go after work any other ideas on what the cause might be?? should i buy a cheap butt pcie card like a 6200 and try it out just to see if it is the video card that is faulty?? 1 other question on the 4 power inputs. my power supply has all 3 of the 4 inputs on the 1 lead out of the power supply unit. ie they are all chained together - 4 pin square, molex and floppy. the main power input is on a seperate lead. is this ok? should i try and plug a seperate molex into the pwer slot on the board?? would this make any difference?
  12. card is in pcie1 the pcie slot 2nd closest to the cpu - and big enough to hold the card i have the dfi pcie card jumpers set in default - which is correct for single vga use. (all the lower pins are uncovered - top 2 rows covered with jumpers) would a faulty card shut down the pc aswell the power of seems heat related - as it powers off and wont power on again untill its totally cooled down. i dont have any friends with a pcie graphics card might have to buy another card and test.- great more cash$$$ why dont i just burn my paycheck and save some time!
