ok with 400$ you cant get much to run oblivion smoothly,you say he has a hardrive,Need abit more information on what you need,power supply?????? how much video card do you want,........im pretty much clueless on what you need,as for your cpu with a possible friedcpu...are you sure the cpu is dead and not the powersupply??? ANyway newegg and monarch computers is where i buy all my hardware....both have good cust support......also check www.cyberpowerinc.com they have some pretty good deal on prebuilt systems that wont break your wallet. But with conroe otw i would wait.....if you dont get a conroe cpu ya night be interested in possibly a single core p4 or dual core since the prices will be dropped with the conroe release up to 60+ %

more them likely youll be able to build a am2 setup for around the same price,noiw dont get me wrong imm a amd man and have had amd cpus now since after my fisrst 2 puters pent 60 that i put a overdrive 120 chip in then a p2 300,but from then i went 900 tbrd to 1400tbrd to 2400xp,then 940pin fx53 that i still have running at 2.64mhz,to my current 4600x2 @2750mhz,so far the am2 performance isnt up much at all from the current 939 setups,and Intels conroe looks very promising....i hate intel but the numbers speak for themselves so unless you need a upgrade right away i would wait for both am2 and conroe and some realworld reviews before i bought anything,but one thing is for sure current intel stuff sucks,luckily i can currently play everything out now at 1920-1200 on my 24" dell with crossfire x1800xts,as for cpu cooling,my thermaltake big water +the aquabay xtra 120mm rad blows away any air cooling out there...dual core ocd never touches 40c... the 3200 board has twin pciE16 slots where as the 200 board only has a single 16pcie or dual 8x..................the new 3200 board is much better, more graphical bandwidth,and a heck of alotbetter southybridge,plus from what i hear it overclocks better then the rdx200 and the new 3200 chipset uses less power also.Its a worthy upgrade for 1900xtxs in xfire....but i dont think it would do me much good with my xfire x1800xts.

hummmm,yeah who wants to buy my 200cf board,unfortunatly i dont own x1900s,just a pair of x1800xts,but they work great at 1920-1200 4xaa16xaf with hdr in oblivion on my 2405 dell lcd,with the chuck norris patch that is,fear plays damn well at 1920-1200 also,can break 14k in 3dm05....but still kicking myself in the butt for not waiting on the x1900s,and my thermaltake big water keeps my 4600x2 under 40c at 2780mhz loaded,aprox 20c at idle with room at 70far.....im very much looking forward to the new crytek crisis game those graphics in the jungle are just unreal looking....hoping i have enought juice to run that game at my native res.

ive read alot of reviews and heard that tagans like to go bad alot....just what i remember about them:)

set one of your x800s tha fit fine in the case on top tof the x1900,where the printed circuit board plugs into the top PCIE slot,line them up on the 2 cardsand see if the screw plate is out as much as you say it is,mabey it can be adjusted with screws mounting the mounting plate to the pcb.and make sure your pluggin it in the slot i havewater cooling and my case is a bit cramed with hoses andwires galore,when i added my master card i didnt even have the slave in thedamn slot:)

if you ever plan on getting a second x1900master card you beter invest in more then 500 watts,ide say 600,the card are mega power hungry,imm running dualx1800xts with a 520 watt ocz sli psu with adjustable multi rails and lotsa amps,so fari havent run into problems hitting 14000+ in 05 and 8300 or so in 3dmark 06 running overclocked cards 706mhz and 805.5,fans at 100% all the time and cpu at 2780mhz or so 11x254 plus itsa dual core

i had the same problem with my 2oo gig maxtor diamondmax10....i think itsa xp install deal i cant emember completly but went into admin tools and madethe rest of it a diferent drive partition,notice no decrease in performance whatsoever. heeheh named it drive p for partition:)

except the all in wonder not crossfire capable plus clock speed drasticly reduced from xt 500 1000 from 625 1450

i run both my x1800xt fansat 100% all the time cant hearthen when imm fraging with my 5.1 sound system or when imm using the headphones with my xfi fatality,the surround with the headphones is accually beter then my klipsh 5.1 system i beleive when it come to directional sound,creative really got there . togerther when it comes to plain 2 speaker headphone surround,plus runing them at 100% imm lucky to hit 70c loaded after hour of gaming and idle 30-40c,i figure colder the chips stay the longer they will live,cpu iswatercooled with thermaltake big water 120mm rad and the aqubay radiator also so twim 120mmrads,plus a niffty dryer vent hse hooked to my window via blu styrafoam isulation so imm pulling cold air in from outside,cpu idles at 19c if its real cold 15c and rarely do isee it hit 30c and with the low volume pump on the system i have it blowing the cool air into the case to cool internals vid cards ect.

i would get the xtx and clock the master to xtx speeds i imagine with the new ati tool beta 12 spool the fans to 100% add some voltagesto he core and mem and they both will prolly go well over stock clocks,i got my x1800xt and master early and i can run 710 cores and 806 mem for a 14022 3dmark05 and just break 7800 in 06,thats with a 4600x2 runing at just about 2.8 gig 11x254 wit 3,3,3,8 timings,will run wih 3,3,37 timings but i see no diference in oerfomance so i keep the 7 at a 8,chip are rated for 3,4,4,8 ocz goldpc4000 GL on your decition

imm gettin 25000/11500 at 2.8 gig somthing isnt right its like you are runnin on half a core...sorry no suggestion on help:(

nice job man, 7800 06 score bout as good as imm gonna get with 2 x1800xts had rig upto 2900mhz+ but was runnin 1.66 volts on the cpu imm water cooled but made me nervous so back to 2.8ghz and 1.5 volts

yeaqh i beleive youll get a god performance gain with the 5.13 drivers or the 6.1 i would rec the 6.1s,i beleivw thw 5.11s dont even have thedual core support in them,Unleash that x1800xt.....im happy with the performance of my dual x1800xts but imm pretty damn pissed they are being phased outfor the x1900,if i knew the x1900s would be so much better i woulda waited to build this rig.hell price is the same.sometimes i would like to kick ati in the knuts.

well at 708 ores and 805.5 mem freq imm scoring 7800+....meme bandwidth makes a big diference with any of the 3dmrk series im running 2 gig of ocz gold pc4000 at 254fsb and 2.95 volts sticker says 3 4 4 8 timings but running mine at 3,3,3,8 getting 6900+mbs before i did the tref setting to 2064 i was getting 4200mbs hope info helps
