  1. I'm trying to decide between these two mobos (Gigabyte DS3 or DQ6) paired with an E6400. I already have an 8800 GTX and I remember reading Angry saying somewhere that if you have a powerful graphics card then the single 16x pci slot on the DS3 isn't a problem since you won't have to worry about going SLi anyway. Are there any other advantages (e.g. overclocking potential) the DQ6 has over the DS3 that would justify me spending an extra $100 or am I better off saving my money?
  2. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=20-178-134 They're cheap right now - so cheap I could get 2 and go the 4gb route - but are they any good or are they value ram in disguise? I guess my main question is what performance difference will I see between 5300 and 6000 speeds?
  3. haha. Nope. There aren't even any games (i.e. directX10 games) out yet that can take full advantage of one 8800 GTX, let alone 2 . Mine is an evga. On a side note, different brand same gpu cards can run together in SLi.
  4. ahahaha. Thanks for the offer though. I actually traded in my GTO for the 8800 GTX through EVGA's stepup program. Have to update my sig one of these days. I went to that slizone site but couldn't find the info. Your search skills > mine. Thanks!
  5. I've got one 8800 GTX and one 8800 GTS - will they run together in SLi?
  6. Sorry, should add that reliability and price is more important than performance although it should be capable of supporting a modest overclock.
  7. I'm building a C2D rig for a friend and wanted your guys' advice on which 2x1GB ram to buy to pair with the DFI Infinity mobo? I've checked with the official DFI site but it's not exactly illuminating. Thanks in advance for the help!
  8. Use the coupon code AMDROCKS50 So does anyone know how well this overclocks? Not much going on in the OC database... Edit: btw - the previous thread here was for a San Diego
  9. Will loosening mem settings during CPU max MHz testing affect the stability, even when the mem is supposedly taken out of the equation by putting it on a 01/02 divider?
  10. Thanks, but I was thinking of things that might affect the stability during CPU stress tests? Do you leave your mem settings at optimized defaults (i.e. auto) or do you manually enter the defaults? Does it make any difference? Basically, are the only bios settings you fiddle with during CPU max MHz testing the ones listed in the overclocking guide? (i.e. cpu multiplier, cpu/fsb freq ratio, ram ratio, etc.)
  11. Yeah, I did... but I Iguess I was wondering if they (and other bios settings) should be set at anything other than default while you are testing max CPU MHz?
  12. I've read the overclocking guide but it doesn't have much to say about what some of the other (i.e. not LDT/FSB ratio, CPU Vid, etc.) the bios settings should be during CPU max MHz testing. Should it be set to optimized defaults? Or at the optimal stock settings that RGone put out? Should DRAM timing be left at auto, or should they be set to their defaults manually? Will any of these minor tweaks actually affect the stability since we take RAM out of the equation anyway by putting it on a ratio? Are there any other tweaks that might increase or decrease stability during this stage of overclocking? Hope this isn't mistaken for a "how do you overclock" question thread. Thanks as always.
  13. QFT. Pencilled my resistor to lower it to 0.759 which upped my vmem to 2.03 from its default 1.81. Now running my ram @ 938  core @ 721 Stable with no artifacts in 3dmark or ATI tool. This thing screams now. This single card runs faster in 3dmark05 than my previous 7900GS SLi setup. If only I could break 12k
  14. Thanks, I'll go with it! How does this graphics card look? I figure I have roughly $100 to spare. Leadtek PX7600GS TDH 256MB GDDR2 PCI Express x16 Video Card
  15. Thanks everyone for the great recommendations. How's this look so far? I still need input on a suitable graphics card for 2d graphic design apps. Also, does anyone know if the Thermalright heatsink will actually fit inside the case? It's a pretty tall hs.
