  1. I also suspected the hard drive, but I'm not in a mood to open the case and try a cold boot without it. I'll do it tomorrow and keep you informed.
  2. Thanks! Is it dangerous? I'm not bothered by the noise, so I'd rather not do it if it doesn't damage anything. Could this cause a real problem? Do I need to fix it?
  3. I have a 40mm fan glued with double sided adhesive tape. I cleaned both the fan and the stock heatsink with acetone before fitting the tape.
  4. Starting a few months ago my PC makes a high pitch noise at cold starts. It takes 2-3 sec, gradully dissapears, and is worse when it is cold in my room. No malfunction whatsoever. What part could make this noise? mobo, hard disk, PSU? Seems like a capacitor noise to me.
  5. I suspected that. I think I read it somewhere. Makes sense.
  6. I tried every way to get CnQ running with cpu at stock everything, not overclocked. I don't really need it. I read about CnQ trouble and wanted to try it on my rig. You say it should work, so I must be making a mistake somewhere. I'll give it another try.
  7. I see no use for standby mode. It' s almost like a shutoff for most of the stuff in the PC (main concern is hard disk).
  8. I tried everything to get c'n'q working. Does this cpu support c'n'q after all?
  9. I know that mobo connector can handle 3W. You can mess the mobo with that fans!!!!! Do not use mobo fan header for power fans!!!
  10. google for high density ram and you will only find problems. really cant remember where I first read about this.
  11. try to disable bank interleave, cpc and dynamic counter
  12. Brand value ram means it's not guaranteed to go over specs. No Name cheap ram 1Gig modules may be high density chips. If you read mobo manuals, will find out that many only support x8 or x16 chips.
  13. Sounds good to me. Maybe my ears are not so good from lots of heavy metal.
  14. your value ram is probably high density (x4 I think). chances are it will never work. sell it!
