  1. Thanks, i'll try lapping it, if it doesn't go well, i'll just keep it at stock speed.
  2. watsonte: took your advice, lowered my clock. still investigating. Kaxx: what does lapping it mean? can you be more specific? caffeinejunkie: i'm pretty sure its on tight since i removed and installed it a million times no change. Abducted: the heatsink feels pretty cool, not even a bit warm. Where is this temp sensor you're talking about? Is there a way to fix it (RMA?)
  3. As already stated above, I have removed the siding on the case so there are no hot air circulating the case. This eliminate the airflow problems!???! I'm already using mbm5 to monitor the temps. guess i should sell the cpu and get another heh.
  4. Stock setting Idle 35-37    load 47 degrees!!! It isn't much different when overclocked?
  5. area51: Yes sorry, its a XP-120 Thermalright, i dont' remember temperature at stock but i'll to find out later tonight. watsonte: I believe my cooling setup is pretty good for AIR, yes? the panaflo pushes pretty hard. I took the side of my case off, so airflo shoudn't be the problem. Clay: All the overclock are listed above, everything is at stock setting. I re-apply AS5 about 3 times, each time with a grain of rice, i've followed the AS5 guide My heatsink only fit one way, if i reverse it, it'll conflict with my video card. I don't belive it is a defective heatsink since my old 300+ venice stayed at 27 idle and under 40 on load. The fan pushes 104CFM!! I'm afraid to go to 3GHz with these temp heh.
  6. I need some help on lowering my temperature. I've tried just about everything (re-applying AS5, Add more fans, i even remove the side of the case.) Idle temp are 38-41 with case open/closed, load temperature reached 64 degrees celcius!! These temperatures are takaen on a cool day, it'll probably fry on a hot day. help help. 7. 290x10 (2.9Ghz) STABLE ~!!! Thanks for all those who helped.
  8. ^Thanks, i'll try that right now. I've bumped my RAM to 2.9v and it primed for 13:49 hours then failed. Sigh
  9. Ok, i've tested a lot and tried a lot of ram timmings, still can't get it to be stable, help
  10. CPU stepping: CABYE 0540 vcore was at stock 1.4v The cpu can reach up to 3Ghz, RAMs could do 270Mhz. RAM settings were the problem. I still didn' get the hang of it yet but after playing wih the settigs i've got it to boot at 290FSB New setting: FSB Bus Frequency............................. - 290 Vcore ................................................- 1.45v DRAM Voltage Control.......................... - 2.8v DRAM Configuration Settings: DRAM Frequency Set............................ - 9/10 Command Per Clock (CPC)....................... - Enable CAS Latency Control (Tcl)..................... - 3 RAS# to CAS# delay (Trcd)..................... - 4 Min RAS# active time (Tras)................... - 8 Row precharge time (Trp)...................... - 4 Row Cycle time (Trc).......................... - 12 Bus Clocks Row refresh cyc time (Trfc)................... - 16 Bus Clocks Row to Row delay (Trrd)....................... - 03 Bus Clocks Write recovery time (Twr)..................... - 03 Bus Clocks Write to Read delay (Twtr).................... - 02 Bus Clocks Read to Write delay (Trwt).................... - 03 Bus Clocks Refresh Period (Tref)......................... - auto DRAM Bank Interleave.......................... - Enabled DRAM Drive Strength........................... - 8 The rest are on auto. Prime lasted for 4 hours and 13minutes, temp 34idle - 49load. Any other suggestions? Thanks for the help so far guys.
  11. Tell me what i'm doing wrong because i can't get pass 225FSB. superpi keep giving me errors and prime fails in matters of minutes. 12. ^You're correct! After long hours of searching and finding nothing. I installed a new o/s and no more BSOD. I knew something like this would happen also since the hard drives running HOT! This was my 2nd maxtor hard drive on this rig in month. The first one was a defect and now this one >
  13. Cleared cmos serveral times. Mushkin 2x512 - 2 pass No errors OCZ VX 2x512 - 2 pass No errors Samsung 2x 512 - 2 pass No errors
  14. I've been running the system at stock setting for couple of month now. Today when i loaded up the computer, it constatly restart after the window screen. I believe it has something to do with the memory since it there was a blue screen flash right before the restart. I've tried switching out the memory (samsung, OCZ VX) but the problem still occurs. I'm able to go into safe mode but i don't think that will do anything. Any help would be appreciated thanks.
  15. Its the power supply problem. Seasonic and dfi don't mix, read up on it. Had this problem before.
